Funny People, however, is a bomb. That thing isn't going to get anywhere near 100 million. no one is expecting that movie to make 100 mil. They were before it was released. And it would have to hit that level to be profitable domestically. It's a bomb.

It probably was a mistake to release it in the summer. That's one thing some analysts have been saying. People legitimately didn't know if it was a comedy or a drama or something in between. And with Apatow, it's hard to tell. 40 Year Old Virgin was a jokey, sweet, feel good movie, but Knocked Up dealt with some fairly depressing stuff. This seems to be moving further in that direction. Whatever the case, looks like his days as Hollywood's comedic golden boy are on the wane.
