edit: only 38 theaters, compared to the big blockbusters had thousands of screens.

It was in 206,000 theaters. So $1 per theater isn't too great.

and if you look at the figures, it didn't tank. It averaged over $5,000/theater. Look at the other new films' averages
GI Joe-$14,025(#1 film in the country in overall earnings) Julie & Julia-$8,539(#2 film) A Perfect Getaway$2670(#7 film)
So yeah, it's overall earnings were low, but its average per screen was actually pretty ok, considering the genre.

According to the per theater average ($5,421 per theater in 38 theaters), it finished 5th for the week behind Thirst ($6,475 per theater in 8 theaters), Julie & Julia ($8,539 in 2,354 theaters), Cold Souls ($9,043 per theater in 7 theaters) and the weeks' overall champ G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra ($14,025 per theater in 4,007 theaters).

I'm sick of Michael Cera getting the Ferrell treatment. He's good in his niche, but that shouldn't necessitate a new film every time you turn around. We get it, you're a quirky goober, how about taking a week off?

What exactly were we expecting Limited Release + The guy from Juno playing the same role he always does = Failure I thought this was a documentary. So he's "playing" himself.

Didn't tank. That's a decent per-sceen average for a limited release.

I really don't see how that's a tank. With that average if it opened on 2,500 screens it would have made $13m opening weekend on what I have to assume is a shoe string budget. This is a indy-type movie in a very limited release.

I liked Michael Cera but when I heard that he's the one holding up an Arrested Development movie I decided it's game on bitch.

Funny People, however, is a bomb. That thing isn't going to get anywhere near 100 million.
