I don't know when the Macho Man did this (I'm guessing that it was done sometime prior to Miss Elizabeth's passing, because Savage mentions that "He wishes her all the best!"), but it's not everyday that you get a chance to hear him do a shoot interview:

Very enjoyable interview. Macho Man seems like a cool guy with a good sense of humor.
Can anyone fill us in on his problems with Road Warrior Hawk? What went on there?

How I can remember it, which means take it with a few grains of salt.
Savage and Hawk got into it, and Hawk knocked Savage out cold.
A few months later at a rock show both men with both of their ladies were backstage.
Savage suckerpunched and essentially beat up Hawk.
That was not what led to the suit though, it was Savage's girl George who beat the dog piss out of Hawks wife.
Stuff like that happens I suppose and hearing stories of how tough and occasionally hard to be around at the time Hawk was. I'm pretty sure the only way Savage or most people in America then could do was jump him.
Hell Hawk beat up 3 Guerreros at one time, and many others.

Thanks a million for posting this. You're right, Savage barely ever does interviews like this. It was refreshing to hear his take on so many things, and I mostly agree with what he had to say.

The current estrangement between Savage and Vince McMahon is even more puzzling when I hear the Macho Man praise Vince for giving him his big break back in 1985.

He personally puts to much on Hogan for everything.
sure he may of been the fire that burnt down WCW, but no one staff wrestler or otherwise tried to put it out.
Savage always did the job for Hogan just like Flair throughout wrestling, and I think both have felt such anger at him at times is for all the promised returns of favor that never went their way.
Savage was the total professional though for working, hell I think I beat him in a match because he was told to.
He also went 100% every time.
I also loved him admitting that his injury set him down. You could tell he was not the same man in late 98' then he was ever before in his career.

On Warrior: I get along great with Ultimate Warrior. Ya know, he's CRAZY, but I'm crazy too. Sometimes when I'd talk with him I'd even understand what he was sayin.
I love Savage.

It wasn't just Gorgeous George beating on Hawk's wife-Miss Madness/Mona/Nora "Molly Holly" Greenwald assisted in a brutal double teaming. Ironic, considering how Greenwald always tried to project a "nice girl" image in the WWF Locker Room. |

Note to Future interviewers... ASK FOLLOW UP QUESTIONS!!!!
These guys had a great list of questions, but they didn't appear to be listening to what Savage was saying, He had a lot of great stuff to say and these guys dropped the ball. seemed like their only concern was to ask the next question on their list.
