This is a prime example of a TNA's overall failure to create a coherent strategy while simultaneously executing good tactics from time to time.

Just watched Impact (we Brits don't see it until Saturday night), and I have to say I thought it was great. No five star classics, but a solid show where the booking and writing really made a lot of sense. MEM take over was well handled, it pushed forwards the idea that the mafia can do whatever the hell they like, when and to whoever. Helped to push Booker forwards as a heel and (possibly more importantly) Shane Sewell as a face. The guy got one of the better pops of the evening. ODB was booked to look strong, making it seem like she was able to take out everyone except Kong, and one on one with no Kongtourage involved, they should have no problem at all putting the belt on her. Booker and the refs; helped Book to further his crazy egomaniac character even more. Shane Sewell's popularity has taken them a little by surprise I think. That said, the blue collar guy who just wants to do a job, but has a strong moral code and won't back down when he sees something to fight for is a perennial hero anyway. Petey & Morgan; Petey was made to look a lot better in this match, that said, being beaten up by Booker/Steiner last week was always about keeping the MEM looking strong; this week he held his own but was ultimately bound to be overcome by the odds. Sting and 3D was always going to be a brawl, so why not use it to show that the cavalry has arrived? Kurt's ego and Sting losing further grip on the group he founded were also given nice little nudges. Abyss vs Steiner; Abyss has been booked awfully in the past. Some people think this match was the continued burial of the guy, but I'd say it was part of his ongoing reinvention. Abyss has been broken away from being "the monster" for so long, that to suddenly have him back to the beast he was before wouldn't work imo. Letting him slowly build the character back to the stage where he feels no pain or remorse. Let him have moments of vulnerability, just make him have fewer and fewer with each passing week. Kurt vs LAX; Kurt's "experience". Simple as that. Both Homicide and Hernandez were booked to play to their strengths, with their only real mistakes almost appearing "rookie", which, if Kurt is being booked as "the greatest wrestler in the world" makes perfect sense. Mistakes that LAX would have recovered from against other wrestlers prove fatal when up against someone with the experience and technique of Kurt. The only major problem I had with the show was that Hernandez getting a rematch for the World Title (basically reinstating his Feast or Fired shot) was played right down. It was mentioned once or possibly twice, in passing by Don West during the commentary of the main event. This should have been treated as huge news, reinstating Hernandez position as a major force to contend with AND helping to make it feel as if Sting was being isolated further. Overall not the best show they've put on, but in terms of furthering storylines, a little gem
