So, Dude's thread about Dissidia (Still on the front page, 'Crappers! You owe me a cheap plug in the future, Dude.) coming soon got me thinking. Thinking about something that I've been thinking about for a looooooooong time.
(Warning: This thread is for gamers. I suppose it could go for other stuff, but mostly this thread is about video games.)
We've all been there. That one game. That one specific game that you simply cannot wait for to come out. That you've followed since Day 1. Since before the title was even announced. Since before even a single screenshot was released.
You pick up every magazine and you check out every website for even the smallest shred of information. You waste hours upon days upon weeks just reading stuff multiple times about said game. The wait is simply that annoyingly horrible. It eats at you. It drives you MAD.
And of course, for some of us, there are tragedies. They changed the release date. It was delayed. It's coming out in....no, that's the Japanese release date! Wait, what? IT WAS CANCELLED?!? NO!!! Wait, it wasn't cancelled?!? IT WAS?!? IT WASN'T?!?!? AAAAAAAAARGH!!!!!!
I bring this thread upon you, Wrestlecrap, to discuss instances of this that you have suffered through. Partially because discussions like this usually provide for some interesting stories, but mostly because.........because I'm suffering through the final leg of this myself right now. Three weeks from yesterday, and it's over. Until then, Youtube videos of the game are the only things keeping me sane. And hell, there's a small chance I won't even have enough money to buy the damn game on the release date.
So share your horror stories here, Wrestlecrap gamers. And share that awesome feeling you get when......you made it to the end and came out with sanity intact. When the wait is finally.........over.
(EDIT: And since inevitably someone will ask, there's a good reason I don't actually say WHAT game I'm currently waiting for; trust me, you won't have even heard of it.)

I know that feeling. I know it very well. I remember buying Dragon Quest VII on the PS1 and seeing a remake of DQIV advertised in the instruction booklet. I was crazy stupid excited about that...and then it was cancelled . But hey, eventually it came out here on the DS, and it was still awesome...so all ended up well. BUT STILL. Now I am currently awaiting the DQVI demo. I'm hoping it doesn't end up cancelled.

Star Wars: The Old Republic is a new MMORPG being developed by Bioware, the same people that did Neverwinter Nights, a game I have a deep connection with. I am also a huge Star Wars fan. As far as I'm concerned this game cannot come out soon enough.

I've never really had that feeling. The closest would be Resident evil 5, I suppose, but even then I didn't scour the Internet for any and every shred of information about it and didn't even care to play the demo when my girlfriend downloaded it. I even turned down a few opportunities to play the full game when my brother-in-law bought it.

Just don't freeze yourself.
It'll only lead to trouble, and you'll end up 500 years in the future where there is no religion and the world is run by otters.

I waited for Final Fantasy VII for a really, really long time. Even back when it was going to be a direct sequel to Final Fantasy VI for the Ultra 64 (Remember that?). There was never any intention for it to a direct sequel to VI. You may be thinking about the Final Fantasy SGI tech demo (with Terra, Shadow, and Locke) that a lot of people incorrectly assumed was for the N64, but was nothing more than a mock-up/trial run for some new stuff they were developing. Final Fantasy VII went through a TON of different possible incarnations which are worth reading up on, as some are really weird. The earliest idea, circa 1994, was that it would be a SNES game that took place in modern day New York City (this later became Parasite Eve) or a game that featured a sorceress named Edea (who later showed up in VIII). Yet another idea was that it would be a detective story set in a city called Midgar, with the main characters being persued by someone named "Detective Joe". But ass far as I know, there was never any intent on anyone's part for it to ever be a direct sequel to VI.

Gears of War 2.
10 months later, I hate it. The online gameplay is such a piece of s***.

It has to be the wait for warioware twisted, for two years I watched that game stubonly stay in the next quarter of the release schedules.
Eventually it turned out it wasn't being released over here as it contained a mercury switch, so I had to import it.

For me it was "Broken Sword: The Sleeping Dragon". Huge fan of the series, so I was pretty stoked to hear that Revolution were making a third game. Was ok, but not as great as I had hyped it up to be in my head. I miss the 2D

See, this is probably why I don't care about new games anymore, mostly because I don't want to be driven crazy by the wait, only to have the game be delayed and pushed back. Then, when I play it, find out I hate it, or in my case, have to wait another year or so until it gets knocked down to the $20-$30 range.

I was feeling this way about Empire Total War, but after it came out and I was so let down by it, this feeling seemed to die away and it hasn't come back; not for any game.
