Well, is it? At the time Slam Sports rated the match 7/10 Many people have said it's the worst match in the history of wrestling. IMO, it's not. Am not saying it's a 5 star classic or a Shawn Michaels type of match but saying it's the worst in wrestling ever is a little harsh isn't it? Watch for yourself and decide. P.S - Warrior's music was cool

While not the worst ever, I'd rank it as maybe the most disappointing ever. I mean Jackie Gayda/Trish Stratus had never headlined Wrestlemania previously.

I've seen it a couple times before.
Biggest single problem is that neither guy could go longer than about 15-20 seconds on offense. There's actually about 4 minutes of reasonable if not exactly sophisticated action in there. But it's stretched out to fill over 14 minutes, so we get a lot of stalling and a lot of panting for breath between stuff.
Add to that the blown fireball spot, the bad ending and Warrior lacking a hot crowd on his side, and it made for a bad match.

Worst ever? No, but it's really bad. Warrior was out of shape and missed everything. Hogan had to carry Warrior and he was in no way motivated to make Warrior look good. The fireball ending was botched and the chairshot ending was weak as all get up. The match was a bad mark on an otherwise good ppv.
PR wise imo was it was more of a disaster than the average bad match. WWF had been winning the monday night battles but the war was far from over. However WWF tv crews were doing a much better job spinning their narrow raitings victories as blowout than WCW was doing marketing their still very strong nielsen raitings and ppv buyrates. Having two past their prime former WWF champions wrestling in a match that everyone but Marky Mark the Super Mark new the outcome to did nothing but help to strength the WWF company line. Had the focus of Halloween Havoc been on DDP-Goldberg things may have been different.

It was a big letdown. They didn't do bad but Warrior had no wind at all. If you compare it to their first match at Wrestlemania 6 it is awful.

It's not the worst of all time, but it is ever so f***ing horrible.
A friend of mine in college had the tape, and I kept trying to get him to watch it one night because I thought it would be hilarious. He kept telling me, "It's really not bad in that way. It's just bad. It's time out of your life that you will never get back." Finally, he agreed and we watched it. And he was right.

What the hell.... That match wasn't bad at all.
My expectations were obviously very low coming in to watch that match.... But after finally watching it that was decent.... Maybe even on the lower side of good......
Sure, it wasn't anywhere near as good as Wrestlemania.... But these guys are older and out of their prime what the hell did you expect. These guys were never technical marvels.
It sounded like some people were cheering Hogan weirdly enough

I wouldn't go so far as to call it the worst of all time, but it's definitely bad.

dare I ask what the worst PPV main event match in history was?

dare I ask what the worst PPV main event match in history was? Well Hogan-Warrior wouldn't qualify as that wasn't actually the main event, Goldberg-DDP was. If you're talking of ALL History. Then it's Heroes of Wrestling. The big 3? That honor falls and will ALWAYS fall on the Great American Bash '91. It wasn't bad enough that it was the Flair Protest Show. It wasn't bad enough that they pissed off the fans even more by turning Luger. The main event was......RICK STEINER AND MISSY HYATT VS ARN ANDERSON AND PAUL E DANGEROUSLY!..A glorious cage match that lasted all of 2 minutes and 8 seconds....Then to rub it in to everyone foolish enough to buy the show, the reason for having the match in the first place (Missy kicking the crap out of Paul E cause he has nowhere to run) doesn't happen because Dick Slater and Dick Murdoch kidnap Missy before she even gets in the cage

It sounded like some people were cheering Hogan weirdly enough They were, Warrior got a huge pop on his Nitro debut then each week it got less and less as the lonnnng promos and silly oWn stuff went on. By the time of Havoc, in fact a week or two before it, some fans were openly cheering on the black hat heel Hogan just because they didn't like Warrior.

^^^And that, to me at least, is a pretty sad statement on society. I actually understood what Warrior was saying during his Nitro promos and I'm no genius. In fact, I'm really not too smart at all. But I still understood what Warrior was saying.
If the majority of wrestling fans who watched Nitro at that time couldn't understand what Warrior was getting at, that doesn't say much for the intellect of the common WCW fan in 1998, which I was one of but I still understood him.

lol No. Of course not. All I am saying is that I completely understood what Warrior was speaking about during his Nitro promos, that's all. Perhaps it's just that I am as demented as Jim Hellwig? Hmmm?

This is another thread that belongs in Wrest of Wrestling, not Wrestlecrap. Just because something is crap doesn't mean it should be moved to the Wrestlecrap section of the forum. They're not talking about something site-specific.
I don't mean any personal offense, mods, but this "Let's put threads into Wrestlecrap" forum at random is nonsensical.

I have seen worst matches than this. This feud is one of my favorites ever. I am biased because Wrestlemania VI is my favorite wrestlemania and this match was the biggest match in the early 1990s to me when I was a kid.

It was a disappointment after the endless hype it received. The match itself isn't that bad, but factor in the hype and you'll understand why people say it is.
