54%? Sad. My friend has a suck 360. I had a rock solid one for about a year. I generally seem to get good consoles though, for whatever reason. It's the only real luck that I have.

Those results are very skewed because of this and the actual failure rate for 360's is MUCH lower (although still not great).
IGN is sloppy as usual.

Funny thing about that Game Informer article, they didn't name their source or where they got their numbers from. That's pretty shoddy journalism.

That's nuts. And I can still play on both of my 16+ year old Super Nintendos.

Me and a buddy both bought 360's a couple months after they came out. Both of ours crapped out last summer, and we each bought an Arcade model with the Falcon motherboards last fall and haven't had any problems what so ever.
In fact, I haven't heard of anyone having any real problems with the 360 once the starting being manufactured with the Falcon. They seem to have eliminated most of the problems from the first 2 360 models

And here I am with my launch-era 360. It has problems with a disc tray that seems to have a mind of its own at times, but no red ring or anything.

The actual numbers are around 33% 360 failure rate, 1% Wii failure rate, and less than 1% PS3 failure rate.
Still pretty bad for 360....at least the Falcon has fixed most of the problems.

In other news, water seems to have a dampening effect on clothing.

My first one died within 4 months to the dreaded RROD, then my 2nd one lasted about 2 years and was sent off today for repairs. Yeah, I love those guys at Xbox, hoping I get a new version if this one can't be repaired, although I'm starting to lose patience.

Its a tough one to call, I've had two red rings so far but I'm still on the same X box. I just let it cool off a bit. So whilst technically my x box has "failed" it hasn't been a massive disaster for me and I'm still happy with my purchase.

I never bothered sending mine in for repairs, because it would have cost me $150 for repairs or $200 for a brand new system, and I have no problems with my new one. I love it

Mine (well my little brother's) is currently broke. Gonna sell it and all the games, probably to fund a PS3 (or beer).
