Anyone who was offered a role in this film and turned it down is a total idiot. This would have been a HUGE payday compared to straight to dvd junk

Wait, where is the burn? I guess he thought you were referring to Van Damme and Seagal not being huge stars.

Wait, where is the burn? I guess he thought you were referring to Van Damme and Seagal not being huge stars. Oh. Well, not anymore, they're not, but in the 90's, they were household names at times. That being said, I just meant like if younger acts were approached to be in the movie, meeting Willis, Arnold, and Stallone? That'd be a HUGE deal.

I don't really care about this movie, gonna skip it. Just doesn't look that interesting and movies like this are all ways utter failures. And other than Li and Willis I can give a shit less about anyone else.

When will people learn that its never the cast that makes movies nowadays, its the concept/script? Dark Knight hada sucky cast list compared to this, but I'll wager its still far superior after all is said and done.

Well, yeah, probably, it could end up being crap like Righteous Kill, but it's at least getting off on a good foot.

The problem is the publicity has started TOO early. People are expecting way too much before release. I can see this becoming an easy victim of Snakes on a Plane syndrome.
Also, Rourke is more an action star now than he ever was in the 80s/90s. Barfly and Angel Heart aren't exactly the types of things this movie is trying to emulate.
Still, its a mystery why Seagal didn't sign on to this.

I think it'll be a fun film and great entertainment. But when the book on Best Action Films is written, I doubt it'll make the grade.

Will I be seeing it for the story? No. But I'm not going to presume it's going to be a shitty script.
Will I be seeing it for the actors? No. Though I'll love Stallone with all my heart.
Will I be seeing it for the fact that the nostalgia level is exploding, and it will bring me back to my youth with action and south american dictators? Yes.

That's because Die Hard is the greatest Action film ever. That was a film when I think it was cast for the story, rather than written for the cast.

This thread just made me fear that this will bomb...I don't know why but I suddenly got a bad feeling about the movie.

Films were written for the cast even back then (i.e. Stallone's rewrite of the Cobra script). Die Hard wasn't, but then, that's why people remember it and not its plethora of clones.
