I actually like 3-D. Most of the movies actually in 3-D so far are less than fascinating. Unless if there's a movie that uses it so well that it becomes an indispensible storytelling tool, its still a gimmick to prevent piracy.

I thought 3d was a brilliant idea. I'm talking about the old 3d though, I haven't watched anything new in 3 d since the 80's

I like 3D. Granted they go a lil overboard about what to show in 3D (more action flicks need to be in this medium), but overall I like it.

I have never seen a movie in 3D yet. Even my mom and the girls we babysit have seen a movie in 3D (G-Force if you must know) and gave it a rave review.

I'm not much of a fan of 3D, but I think it's great business. It gives people a reason to go the theater instead of waiting for the DVD release.
Besides, some theaters show both the 2D and 3D version. So, if you're not up for 3D, you can see the movie in 2D instead.

I'm with you,OP. I hate it. If I want to see a 2D version of a film,I have to drive an extra 20 miles out of my way(which I do) because the theater closest to me only shows the 3D versions. They say they have some sort of contract where they can only show those and not the 2D versions. I hope how soon this trend goes away which sadly won't be any time soon. I saw where Disney is re-releasing Beauty And The Beast in 3D next year and it made me sad. 3D adds absolutley nothing to the story and I don't feel the need to pay the extra 3 or 4 bucks for some eye candy. If people want to see it,more power to them. I just can't want for it to go away.

3D is pretty freaking harmless. For some reason, it seems to pop up during economic woes. Maybe for diversion.
That being said, the only 3D film I've seen recently was Monsters vs Aliens, and it was pretty fun.

That being said, the only 3D film I've seen recently was Monsters vs Aliens, and it was pretty fun. Well, another thing that irks me about it is that my best friend who I normally go to the movies with can't watch it because it gives her headaches. It wouldn't be a big deal if the theater would show both 2D and the 3D version but they only show the 3D which means we have to drive another 20 miles to see a movie in 2D. Which like I said,I will do because I'm not a fan of it personally but it's just annoying when the theater can't show both versions. A lady at my church said she took her kids to go see Up in 3D and two of her kids got headaches from it as well so she will have to go out of her way now as well. Like I said in my first post,if people want to watch it,that's fine. I'm not going to sit here and say that people shouldn't go watch it. I just find it annoying and think that the theaters should at least offer both a 2D and 3D version because not everyone wants to watch the 3D version.

By the way, THIS is the worst thing to happen in film ever. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hollywood_blacklistDestroying people's lives to achieve little more than to bury enemies and to cover for the fact the government could do little to catch actual Communists, so they had to invent their own.
