In the last five years (starting with the first PPV after SummerSlam 2004, when Orton won the belt for the first time), some combination of Randy Orton, John Cena, and Triple H have wrestled against each other TWENTY-FOUR TIMES. That includes singles, tag, and multi-man matches, but not Royal Rumbles.
That means Cena-Orton at SummerSlam will be the 25th match in the last five years featuring some combo of these three against each other. -www.wrestling-edge.com
Too much of Cena, Orton, and HHH?

I don't hate either of these guys but yes, it is a problem. I understand why each of them are in the main event though which is the other side of the spectrum.

Having them individually in the main events isn't the problem. Having them face off over and over and over and over ... yeah, that is.
Like, it's sort of like the argument I use against HHH ever needing to be the champion again. HHH has his fan base, and they're going to watch him whether he has the belt or not. In other words, no matter what he's doing, HHH is a main event in and of himself. So is John Cena, and you could argue Randy Orton, but I'm not there yet. Unless he has the belt or is fighting for it, I don't get "main event" vibe from him, even though I like him a lot. Doesn't it just stand to reason that if Triple H is drawing no matter what, that you should put the belt on someone else who can begin establishing himself and building himself with it? If Punk hadn't been the champion during this build with Jeff, I don't think it quite has the same bite to it. He's extra hated with it because people want to see someone shut him up and take his gold.
So you have HHH as a main event, and now the championship as a main event. Hey, you can even make that argument for Cena. By not having the belt on HHH or Cena, and having it on someone else who can actually use it, you've now given yourself THREE main events on a show. A Triple H match to get his fans mouth's watering, a Cena match for the same, and the young guy with the belt finally getting people's attention in the main event. It just seems like logical business to me.

It just shows the state of RAW at the moment that people are crying out for Mark Henry to be Champion. Not that I have anything against Mark but if you'd said that to me 2-3 years ago I would have thought you were crazy.
I think once the Orton/HHH feud is officially over (probably at HIAC) then WWE need to seriously change things up and start elevating MVP, Swagger, Miz etc towards a main event spot. But by then Batista will be back and.......yeah well who knows.

Add Batista, Edge and Undertaker to the mix on Smackdown for the same problem.
I remember the buzz a few years ago when the WWE had it's first title match on PPV not featuring SCSA, Rock, HHH or Undertaker for something like 3 years.
In five years we'll be saying the same about Morrison, Punk, Ted and...I don't know...Festus?

Sadly by the time these 3 finally wrap up whatever they're going to do, Batista will be back...and we start all over again with even worse matches.

Add Batista, Edge and Undertaker to the mix on Smackdown for the same problem. Maybe in 2007-08, but it's not like that now.

Maybe so, but if certain interviews are to be believed Batista was planning to retire in the next year before he got injured. I can't imagine plans changed and I have a feeling his next run will be his last. (Which will be a sad day for wrestlecrap photoshop threads)

He could probably get a job doing some action movies as the muscle for a bad guy or even a hero type character in an angina inducing WWE film.

God, watching their triple threat at NoC, I could not decide which of them I wanted to win. Triple H is the best worker out of the 3, but he also tends to phone it in sometimes and is overexposed. Cena is the most charismatic, but he's also booked like super man and cuts the very worst promos, in the history of sports entertainment (see what i did there?). Orton is the most interesting, but he's booked like a total bitch and is a robot on the mic. They all have something good about them but the bad cancels it out. By the end of the match I hated all 3 of them even more.

The thing is, on SmackDown, almost anyone can be in the main event.
For example, you could give Rey Mysterio or Kane a title shot on PPV and it would be perfectly fine.
On Raw, it HAS to involve Cena, Triple, Orton, or Batista. Every time. Without fail.

I think they seriously need to move one of these guys off Raw, I would rather it be Cena or Batista, just so HHH doesn't destroy the young guys on Smackdown. I do like the fact that HHH is starting to fued more with Rhoades and Dibiase now, but I was really hoping that Mark Henry was going to get that title shot. The main problem right now is that Raw has three main eventers in HHH, Orton, and Cena. They are all booked so incredibly strong so that when they face a member of the midcard they make them look like nothing. Orton is pretty much the only guy who has made any midcard guys look good, okay Cena had a match with the Miz a little while back where he didn't look horrible, but then on Monday he makes him look like a complete bitch. I guess they just put the mid-carders and young guys they want to push on Smackdown.

The problem is Vince. He's old and senile. And like a lot of old people, he's now deathly afraid of change. It's like how grandad still insists on using his top-loading VCR or drives the same shit-box giant oldsmobile he's always had when there's much better cars out there. It's safe and familiar to his frail disposition, and dang-nummit, he ain't gonna change what works.
That's why old people are ridiculous and forced into retirement when they outlive their usefulness. They're just not with it anymore. They're just not any good.
Unfortunately though, you can't force Vince into retirement. You just have to put up with the same tired, safe old-man booking until he power-walks off this mortal coil.

While Cena and Orton may possibly vary in the future its for sure that Trips will be around in the main spot with the belt or challenging for it no matter what. One of the perks when you Your Boss thinks your the best thing since sliced bread and happens to be the your farther in law at the same time

Kind of like WCW when we kept seeing Flair Hogan and Piper in an endless combination of matches. Sting is the Batista in this equation.

I bet he knows that too.
