I've always heard about these scenes, but I've never been able to see them. I didn't think George Lucas ever put them out for us to see. Do any of you know if these were included in the original-version DVDs from a couple years ago, or if they're just pirated footage?

Anyone care to fill me in on what they are, why they were left out, etc.
You'd think with the movies being on DVD, all these things would've been added back in.

They`re just deleted scenes. The first one is Luke watching the battle above Tatooine through a set of binoculars and then talking to his friends at Tashi Stationthing (I think). Koo Stark is the girl, who I'm sure had an affair with one of the Royal family or something back in the day.
Second one appears to be the unedited footage from the Cantina. Note the English accents from the characters that were later re-dubbed.

They've never been on any of the DVDs, and probably never will be. Lucas has sadly said in the past that he doesn't believe in putting cut scenes on DVDs as extras because - and I'm paraphrasing him - if they weren't good enough to be in the movie we don't need to see them.
Unfortunate.
ESB had a whole sequence with a Wampa trapped in Echo Base cut out (thought "effects" of it can be seen in the final movie), and Jedi had a few - Luke at Obi-Wan's house making his new lightsaber, Vader choking Moff Jerjerrod, and the sandstorm scene just after they escape Jabba's Palace. I've seen stills, but never the videos.

There's also supposed to be a scene from Star Wars of Leia being tortured while hanging upside down. I remember reading Carrie Fischer was pissed that it was cut, because so much work went into it.

I need to see this. It was never filmed as far as I know. There isn't even pictures of it. It only exists in the radio drama I believe. Interestingly enough, Vader pretends to be Leia's father to coax her into giving the base location. It's interesting in the context of everything else. We know Lucas didn't have everything planned out, despite his claims to the contrary, but it's more confirmation.

Listening to the dialogue in that first deleted scene, I can see why it was cut. A little wordy if you ask me.

Some of the deleted scenes were released in a Star Wars CD-ROM 2 Disc Set called Behind The Magic released in 1998 which was mostly an Interactive Behind The Scenes of the first three movies which was a pretty cool set.
Sadly though i lost the first disc to the set a long time ago and only have Disc 2.
