The Dreamcast got me through some rough times.
That sounds stupid, but it's true.

I hear ya. I still have mine and still buy games for it (used of course) to this day. Still one of the greatest systems for fighting and sports games.
If only the damn thing could play a DVD.

A lot of people say the PS2 simply killed the Dreamcast, but it didn't. SEGA killed the system, because if they had actually spent the 3 or so years making the SEGA CD and 32X add-ons for the Genesis on better planning for the Saturn, the Saturn would've more than likely have been a success, and thus they'd have the money to make the Dreamcast a competitor.

I was just wishing the other day I could play some Capcom vs. SNK 1.
My little bro is considering shooting his first "Let's Play..." video in honor of it. Our Dreamcast is shot, but he's considering doing Sonic Adventure DX on the Gamecube, despite it being glitched to hell.

A great system brought down by pirating, maybe not totally, but it had to have been at least 25% of the reason.

I still remember the EGM magazine that had had Sonic Adventure on the front cover, touting 9/9/99. Those were good days, when EGM was 200+ pages thick, and still in print.

I always thought the 2K games were much better than the Madden/NBA Live games of the time. When it came to sports games and fighters, there was no shortage of quality titles on the Dreamcast. The only thing I would've liked more of was RPGs. Skies of Arcadia and Grandia II was pretty much it and, while they were incredible games, there was no depth on the console in the genre.

I have EGM's with 300+ pages in 'em! THOSE were the good old days Anyways, if anything, I thank the Dreamcast to introducing me to Shenmue, which is still one of my favorite games of all time. I really hated the controller though. Oh yea, and my friend made me a CD-R with every NES and SNES game on 1 disc. I still have my Dreamcast for that reason.

I remember a rumor that the whole "It's thinking" advertising meant that it would talk after you spent x amount of hours playing it. Can anyone confirm or deny?

I don't think I owned a single RPG on the Dreamcast, unless you count Guantlet Legends as an RPG. Which was bad ass to play with some friends and some beer. Another fun party game that no one but me bought was Sports Jam. It was an arcade port. They were all just a bunch of sports themed mini games, but they were fun to just pick up and play. Best $7 I ever spent on a Dreamcast game. Actually, that's a lie. I found a copy of Soul Calibur and Sega GT at Half Price Books for a dollar a piece.

That thing was the size of the New Testament.

2K Sports > EA Sports forever.
I loved the Dreamcast. I was the only kid in the neighborhood that had one. All the neighborhood kids would come over after school to play NFL 2K1 and NBA 2K1. Those were the good old days.

I know it was also ported to the PS2 and Gamecube, but Crazy Taxi was f***ing awesome and so much better played on the Dreamcast.
Was it ever explained why the cord on the controller was on the bottom instead of the top? That was definitely some poor design work.
