To not make this the long things these threads usually become, I'll make it short.
I saw a friend of mine who was a year below me at Uni looking for jobs and on the phone. I thought I'd say Hi and see how she was doing. She was on the phone to her boyfriend...
Yes, I said 'she'...and yes, I said 'boyfriend'. You probably know where this is going.
So since she needed to go to the station, I thought I'd do what I usually do for anyone I meet up around town. Keep them company. Of course, this was wrong because from what it seemed like, I was being lead across by her boyfriend telling her to ditch me somewhere by getting her to do other things like get a book.
So she ends up going to Domino's Pizza to get a job application and she passes the phone to me because she's fed up of getting shouted at and he wanted to speak to me.
When I mean 'speak', I mean 'threaten'. My neck being the bodypart in question. I tried my best not to say anything because, well, he's a douche so
So I just gave the phone back to her while she said sorry and told me her boyfriend didn't like her having male friends because, as we all should know, this isn't the 21st Century and women have no choice in anything. When I left, I just told her of two jobs that might be open.
I then put something on my Facebook saying I wasn't a threat to anyone because, for months and months and months, this kind of crap's been happening to me and I'm sick of it. I'm not a threat to anyone's relationship. Heck, I'm the one who seems to intimidate women into either 1. avoiding me or 2. conning me out of money. It's pissing me off.
He replies to me via Chat since we knew each other last year (also a first year in the same course as the girl) and after a bit, he tells me to not go near her again or he'll beat me up.
Problem with that is there's an Icebreaker on the 18th for Journalism students so we're all going to be in a small-ish Pub drinking. I just said 'Dude, if you're there and I'm there and you want to kick my ass, do it. I'm not the one that'll pick up the pieces soon after'. Then I closed Facebook because I didn't want to hear is garbage again.
So yeah...I'm scared, pissed off and depressed at the same time. Yippee!

Go for the nuts. One kick, two kicks, keep kicking until he cries like a baby, then kick again.
Seriously, up to you to decide if you do something about it. It's a very vague kind of advice, but it's the only thing I can think of.

eJm, don't worry about this dude. I'm pretty sure he's full of hot air, and hey if he does attack you... sue the shit out of him. Seriously though man, if she's not willing to stand up for you being just a long time friend, I know this might sound cold coming from someone that doesn't know the situation that well, but she doesn't seem like such a great friend. Unfortunatly there are stupid people out there, and this guy sounds like one of them. I could only imagine if my best friend acted like that every time I was around his wife. I'd just roll my eyes and tell him to shut up.

I'm not saying you're in the wrong, but put yourself in his position for a second.

I'm not saying you're in the wrong, but put yourself in his position for a second. I've spoken with him plenty of times. We talked about him writing stuff for what was Entertainment Newsline and also helped make me consider doing a sports section possibly. Heck, he was going to be one of the main writers for it. Dude was great to me all throughout last year and I helped him with a couple of things. He knows me for long enough to know I'm not suddenly going to go behind his back and steal his woman. Just wanted to answer this, not to say you didn't make a point too.

DOn't worry, I know how you feel. It's just that today, a lot of people tend to ceheat on their lovers so people are scared. I think they need to calm down a little and realize that this isn't always the case.

Look up youtube vids of Blade Braxton giving boxing lessons and kicking ass ...
Okay, now that that is out of the way, don't worry about it. People bluster all the time about kicking so and so's ass. The guy I know who talks the toughest about kicking people's asses is the biggest pussy on the planet. He was trying to be tough one day and I was ignoring him, so he punched me in the shoulder ... and then whined for the next week about dislocating his wrist. Another time he tried to be tough I took him down and introduced him to the double arm bar.
More than likely this guy isn't going to hit you in a room full of people, but if he does, cover up and protect yourself. There's a room full of potential witnesses for your upcoming lawsuit.

Rear Naked choke after ducking his punch, works wonders.
Though I have a hilarious image of him going to her class, making her sit in the middle and yelling at anyone who sits near to her. Just protecting her in a little seat island.

I wouldn't worry about this guy, sounds like he's just blowing hot air, as my dad would say 'It's the quiet ones you have to watch'. In other words if this guy was a threat he wouldn't have told you what he was going to do, he would have just done it.
I'm not saying violence is the answer but if he were to attack you my advice is to just punch like a mad man and keep punching and when he sees your not going to be a pushover he'll back off.

If it comes to blows, as Bobby Heenan said, "The only thing that hurts you in a fight is your eyes and your balls"
So, that's where you should strike.

I looked at the title real quick and thought it said you were threatened by a gay!
I was going to ask how he threatened you?

I'm not saying you're in the wrong, but put yourself in his position for a second. And... ? I'm married, and I have female friends that I hang out with - one-on-one - all the time. Ditto for my wife with her male friends. We even have a mutual male friend that she used to date before she met me. Oh my God, he's seen her naked. That's it - they're no longer allowed to be in the same place at the same time, ever again! It just seems silly to me, and I echo the "she doesn't seem like a very good friend for not sticking up for you" sentiment, and I'll add "she sounds like she has low self-esteem, and loves the fact that she's 'worth fighting over.'" EDIT: For the record, both she and I have been cheated on before, so we do know that it can happen, but we have something that the OP's friend and her boyfriend apparently don't have: trust.

He goes from being cool with you and such to all the sudden wanting to kick your ass for being around his woman. Something had to happen somewhere to cause this change (not meaning something with you and said girl).

Just protecting her in a little seat island. I was going to suggest something similar to this, minus her bf yelling at anyone who sits by her.

RAWR! Flex your muscles, crop.
Who's to blame here? Is she so scandalous that going around for applications unattended is a little too much slack to put on her leash or is dude the classic jealous type? Whatever's going on, you're percieved as a threat. Simple solution: minimize your involvement with this girl. If he still comes after you, then brain chop him, he's an idiot. If you're not up to it, fly me out there and I'll brain chop him, because he's an idiot. Unless of course you are scheming on this girl, in which case, you should be brain chopped.

Simple solution: minimize your involvement with this girl. That's the plan. Not for her sake because at this point I really feel for her more then me, but for the fact that I can't deal with crap like this anymore because it all seems insanely stupid. My only concern is this. Next Friday is our traditional meet up of Journalism students for a drink and free food and the likelyhood is I'll be there, she'll be there and more importantly, he'll be there. So it's not like I don't want to have this guy out of my hair, but the pub isn't exactly a wonder Pub of epic size so I'll have to be doing my darndest to avoid both of them and the crap that comes with it because if I don't show up, it'll basically mean he's won. That's if any of them show up at all. Having said that, the brain chopping stuff sounds tempting as hell. ;D get in contact with the campus police Well, we do have Wardens and people like that but it's not really a factor seeing as 1. I live in another part of the campus not where I was before and 2. He lives waaaay away from me and he's not going to walk down for miles just to kick my ass.

I'll bet if you were somehow able to secure a cordless mic and proceeded to cut a scathing promo on him that he wouldn't know what to do.
"Let me tell you something you snorking PUNK! [finger in chest] I've been in this business for fifteen years, do you know how many scrubs like you have tried to knock me off my perch, thinking they were going to make a name for themselves!? I've got news for you, jabroni, YOU HAVEN'T BEATEN ANYBODY!! YOU THINK YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO SIT HERE TELLING ME WHAT TO DO!!? WHO THE SNORK TO YOU THINK YOU ARE!!? I'VE HEADLINED MADISON SQUARE GARDEN, BABY, YOU'RE JUST SOME CHUMP LOOKING FOR A RUB!! YOU WANT TO GO, SWEETHEART!? LET'S DO THIS!" [slam the mic down]
