I can say it's definitely not worth the 300 bucks they're asking for.
You can definitely hear differences between the mono mixes and the regular stereo mixes, but to me that doesn't make these mixes better.
For instance, you can hear all the effects on "yellow submarine" and "I am the walrus" much better now but on the other hand stuff like sgt. peppers doesn't sound all that great.
Overall, if you don't want to spend the 300 bucks for these mixes you're not missing much.

If the Beatles put out a release of various phone call recordings of them ordering pizza, I'd buy it.
I see the point you're making though

I see the point you're making though The real reason the Beatles broke up was because Paul wanted pineapples, John wanted only pepperoni, George wanted sausage, and Ringo wanted anchovies. True story. ;D

Well the mono set is mostly for collectors.
Also, $300? I paid $229 for mine.

I bought the box set on 9/9/09 and I can say that it is definitely worth the price I paid ($229). I've been a lifelong Beatles fan and the music has never sounded this clear and wonderful.

I'm going to ask a very stupid question here but aren't "Mono" recordings a bad thing? I knew there used to be Mono records and then there were Stereo records (not just the Beatles stuff, but everywhere in music)...

I knew there used to be Mono records and then there were Stereo records (not just the Beatles stuff, but everywhere in music)... the story goes that when the beatles originally mastered their albums it was in mono because the beatles liked the sound of mono. then engineers took the recordings and mastered them into stereo based on the mono recordings.

Ah ok, thanks. I'd be willing to hear them myself - mono can sound pretty wicked at times.
I'll hold off on buying anything for a while though.
