So I was watching The Price is Right this morning, and a guy bid $650. The girl after him bid $649. I facepalmed immediately. Anyone else watch a game show and see someone epicly fail?

I'm not quite sure if this is an epic fail, but I was watching an old episode of Family Feud and the question was "Name an Evil you would think about but not do" or something along those lines. The guy actually said rape. Even Richard Dawson had to take a second to recover from that.

LOL that's a good one. I'd call that an epic fail.

It happened with another of the Contestants' Row deals today. First person bid $1,100, so the last person (in their infinite wisdom) bid $1,099. Both lost.

There was one on Wheel of Fortune Tuesday this week. The three contestants were all U.S. servicemen/women. It was the opening puzzle where letters are randomly revealed. A contestant rang in with the following letters already displayed: AM_RICAN SA_OA The contestant said "African Samoa."

It reminds me of those select few people that lost on the $100 question of Millionaire (note: the common picture that's seen with the failure was photoshopped).

EDIT: Poor guy.

That caterpiller must be an athlete, he just bought a hundred sneakers and a blank?

That caterpiller must be an athlete, he just bought a hundred sneakers and a blank? That contestant wound up winning a game and giving us the worst Super Match answer of all time. Cuckoo (Blank) Her: Cuckoo, Friend and Ollie.

Actually, that is not bad strategy at all. A lot of items end in 9 in terms of the final number, so you could get the perfect bid on a 9. I hate people who see the --0, then bid --1.

Was it A _ _ R I C A N S A _ O A ? Cause, if not...then I'm confused. No, it was as I had it explained above. Since it was the opening game and the contestants weren't guessing letters (letters were being shown at random), there was one "M" revealed and just the E and M still hidden. I couldn't believe it.

I'm not a huge Price is Right fan, so maybe I'm missing something, but how is that stupid? Doesn't doing that grant you victory (assuming you're not over the actual price, of course)?

She went a dollar under what someone else bid, thereby guaranteeing the only way she could win is if she were exactly right. Normally, you go a dollar over.

Yes, that was indeed stupid.

Since it's the closest without going over the strategy is to bid $1 OVER the previous bid, thus essentially negating the bid because no matter the actual price you'll be one dollar closer. By bidding one dollar UNDER she MUST get the price exactly right at the statistically unlikely price of $649 or else the bid is useless because there's another bid that is one dollar higher and therefore closer to the bid before going over.
