Since I brought it up in another thread I decided to watch it again tonight. I actually named it as one of my top 20 films a little while back and watching it again just now really re-enforces that, it really is one of my favorites. The strange ups and downs of the characters as they go from the 70's to the 80's in the world of the golden age of porn is such an interesting thing. It's also such a scream to watch Mark Wahlberg do the worst best version of "The Touch" ever as well as him and the other actors purposely acting bad in the porn movies, just hilarious. Burt Reynolds is also just awesome, dude got robbed for best supporting actor, he's so calm and cool 99% of the time, just don't push him or he'll f*** you up. The Rahad Jackson scene is so messed up and tense, you can almost feel that Dirk has really hit rock bottom, especially that odd part when you just see him sitting there with nothing but the music, great film work there. Hell it even has Thomas Jane as the totally crazy Todd, that guy is a Hell of an actor cuz that part when Todd flips out is just outstanding and just crazy. So yeah, I know there must be a few fans of this movie, to whom I ask, where the f*** is Ringo?

I mentioned that scene with rahad as my favorite movie scene ever. The slow zoom into his face as his mile fades... awesomeness in motion.

Another funny thing about this film is that it was pretty much "The John Holmes Story" but not really, like he was actually mentioned in the movie as a real person but it was also based on his life at the same time. They also did neat Holmes homages like the following. Perfectly work safe BTW.

Great movie.
There's a rumour going around about the first DVD release of the movie being called back because of a hidden Nina Hartley scene.

Believe it or not I've never seen it. Every time I've tried watching it I had to stop for various reasons. One of these days I'll see Rollergirl.

I love the scene where you see that shows where everything is up to after porn, and "God Only Knows" is playing the background.

Great movie. Paul Thomas Anderson is one of the best and most skilled film directors of the past 25 years. John C. Reilly was possibly on his most excellent awesomeness during a movie ever!

I just saw it for the first time a couple of years ago, and I was really impressed. I thought it had a fantastic ensemble with several standout performances.
Also, I did not expect the holy shit moment with William H. Macy's character. That shocked the hell out of me.

The drug deal scene is one of the best scenes EVER filmed. Wish I knew how to put a youtube video in a post. The fact that Sister Christian was playing in the background made it all the more awesome. The awesomeness just dripped off the screen.
