Hero of the Day might be one of my favorite songs by them. I don't know how in a pretty humdrum album such a great piece of work came about, but what can I say, I love this song. The video was pretty cool as well actually.

Half of the album is good and half is mediocre.

I agree about Hero of the Day, but honestly I think Load is a great album.
I liked Reload too.

My favorite song on that album is "House That Jack Built." But I like "Hero of the Day" too.

I agree about Hero of the Day, but honestly I think Load is a great album. I liked Reload too. I thought Re-Load was a much better effort. I understand what they were trying to do in Load, but it just kind of fell a little flat for me.

To me, Load and Reload have some of the best lyrics that Metallica has ever written.
The music itself isn't too bad, either.

I'm sorry, but I'm just not a big fan of Load through St. Anger, save for Garage Inc.

I still think King Nothing is the only good song in the Load album, but I can see why people like Hero of the Day so much.

load is a great album, house that jack built is my fav track, reload is basically left overs that werent good enough to be on load House That Jack Built doesn't get enough love. And personally, I love the album. Yeah, there are a couple of songs that sound like filler, but on the other hand Reload sounds like a filler album with a few standouts. If they would have taken the best songs from each and done one album it probably would have been better. But I guess that could be said for most double albums.

I've heard Kirk Hammett mention in a few interviews that his favorite guitar solo is from "Hero Of The Day". Might be a bit of a shocker to most people, but as a guitarist, I understand why that's his favorite. It's not about how many notes you play or how fast you play them, it's about what you play, and how it serves the song.
I like a good deal of the Load/ReLoad stuff, I don't understand the general dislike for it.
