What does that even mean? Isn't domo "thank you?" How on Earth did that get applied to slurpees?

I went to Toys R Us sometime this past spring and they had a display area with Domo items. I dunno what Domo was, so I asked a reliable source: my 8 year old son.
What I could gather was in a little board book about him: he emits a pink cloud of gas for entertainment.

It's popular because it's Japanese.

You don't see me complaining. Domo-Kun is great. I loved him when I went to the NHK studio in Shibuya, Japan and I love him now.
Though, I will admit that I was confused as all hell when I saw that Domo-Kun invaded 7-11.

Domo will save us from Cthulluh, assuming Dracula or St. George isn't up to the task.

hell, last year's Target Halloween stuff was Domo themed. We were all making fun of it at work since none of us who worked there had no idea WTF it was

He looks cool and is a good logo to use for graphic design. I'm more shocked he wasn't popular here before.
