I get a call from my ex wife today, saying she won't be able to pick up our son this week because of a medical emergency with her mother. Something about having infected gums and needing emergency surgery on her mouth. So, backstory:
My ex wife is batsmurf crazy. She had an affair with a guy that's like 70 (she's 32) that continues to this day. She just went on disability for being batsmurf crazy. Her mother has been on disability for years, due to PTSD caused by a questionable rape. She's about as batsmurf crazy. Her family has pretty much cut off her arm of the tree because of the drama that she's caused over the years. Both of them are the type of people who will believe that they are helpless, living on the charity of others, because it's easier than having to do things for themselves. In fact, the affair came about because I saw this in my ex wife, and told her that I wouldn't enable her anymore, so she went out and found a new enabler.
Now that you're up to speed, hearing about this whole infected gums thing is like watching a freight train filled with drama speeding toward you, only to realize at the last minute that I'm not on that track anymore. I can just wave as it passes by. Why? I got divorce papers. Gonna have a nice Halloween with the boy.

Thank your lucky stars you got yourself out that. You will still have her in your life due to your child, but man I'd be so grateful right now if I were you.
Makes you wonder what you ever saw in her to begin with.

Unfortunately many of us have psychotic exes. Glad you have the stones to put an end to it. Probably the best thing you ever did.

What did I see in her? Sex. Lots of it. And there's no probably about it, getting her out of my life was the best thing I ever did, for me and my son. I'll gladly pay the extra day care money for the two days she'd have had him this week.

I'm quite familiar with that personality type myself. I once dated such a girl. The amount of effort she put into not putting forth any effort was staggering. That was about three years ago. When I see her, I hate myself a little more each time for not seeing it until I was entangled.

Good for you to be away from that. And good on you for raising your boy right still. Lulz at her coffin-snatching affair though, that's pretty funny.

It's something that should be taught in schools and by our parents. It should be one of those universal laws we're taught as kids - like save your money for a rainy day, etc. Lust gets us into so much trouble. I wonder how many of us ended up with a psychotic around us because of it!

Unfortunately many of us have psychotic exes. Should we form a club? Hell yea, if the singles can have a club why can't the jilted ex lovers have one?

Given the worst most people have to tolerate is passive aggressive BS, I'd say you managed to escape something that would of been a good 3 or 4 times worse. Good on you, and good on your kid.

Hell yea, if the singles can have a club why can't the jilted ex lovers have one? Tehheh, I don't know that I'd call myself jilted. It's kind of funny, reading the OP's post and what he went through...what happened to me last year (I guess it was really this year, but moooonths ago) is strikingly similar. Difference is, I wasn't married to her...yet. *shudder*. But I basically, instead of being all "aw boo hoo, woe is me" I was like "Oh. Well, I don't have to put up with that family, all of their stupid BS, drug problems, alcoholism, her idiot brother, and the crappy conditions they live in anymore. Also, I don't have to inherit their debt when they die...which is probably going to be soon at the rate they're going. Hm. Actually, I think I got the better end of the deal here. It's his problem now!" And of course...things got way way way worse for those two before they got better. Months later I was getting the "Josh, everything is so awful now" texts. So, meh. Live and learn, stay away from that personality type. I have no idea what this club is called. Can we just call it something classy and obscure? Also, just an edit, what was said about Lust in this thread is VERY true.

Honestly for about the first Year of Mine and The Missus' marraige she was THAT bad. It wasn't until we actually moved in with her mother following living in the Ghetto from Hell that things actually improved.
As it turned out I'd always thought that she was exaggerating about her mom and her health but actually living with it made it seem I dunno more "real"
Her family's still a massive shit-storm of Drama (Sisters are both psycho, Older one's just a whore and horrible mother, mostly due to her being dumber than wet pig shit, and the Yongest is an Ax Crazy Idiot that can't even be in the same home as any of the rest of her family. Yes despite all the issues that My lovely wife has...she's reletively normal and the best mom that a kid could want.

Sounds like you dodged a massive bullet, man. The really huge Super Mario kind with the eyes on the side, where you had to run and duck into the little spot to avoid shrinking. You did that. You got into that spot, and you're still super sized, and you can break blocks with your head.
Now get out there and step on some freakin' turtles!
