Any idea how long the download takes if you're doing the "I bought a computer with Vista a couple months ago and get the free upgrade" thing?

My bro is getting a laptop soon. He keeps bragging about getting Windows 7 on it.
Funny thing is, he kept saying he wasn't sure at first whether to stick with Windows 7 or go with Windows XP, totally ignoring the fact Vista exists.
And about the upgrade, at some places (Best Buy I know is doing this) you can take the computer to the place and as long as you have the right papers for it you can have the Geek Squad guys install it for you.

I bought this way back when they did the get it for only $50 pre-order deal. As long as I can watch movies and play WoW (yes you wrestlecrap players got me back into the game) I'll be fine.

I'm still sticking with XP on my current PC.
However, when I get a new laptop, I'm going with Win7 Pro 64-bit.

Meh. I'll pass at least until microsoft throws it up on club bing, if they do.
I've had very, very, very little problems with Vista... less than XP. Then again, I'm running a Dell designed to fit the OS.
From what I've gathered personally, most people who preach XP over Vista tried upgrading or putting it on a system that couldn't handle it.
Oh, and 2000 Pro is still the best OS evar. All it needed was XP's msconfig thrown on.

I've seen some cool vids about Windows 7.
I've had Vista on a Toshiba laptop for about a year now and haven't had any problems with it, so I think I'll stick with that for now.

ok here's how I'm testing out windows seven,
I have firefox open, but not only that I have it up to 5 tabs with one of them being a youtube vid.
Then on top of all that, I have steam open downloading and installing two games at once. so far windows seven hasn't crashed. TAKE THAT VISTA!

When I build a new computer, I'll get 7. Not putting it on my current one, though.

I have been running the release candidate for months now and, took advantage of the $30 upgrade though I still need to DL it. Win 7 is easily the best OS I have used. Fast, clean, simple and, real easy to use as compared to XP and Vista.
