I saw this article on Fox News. Apparently, Glamour magazine is doing a spread of successful Plus Size models in their latest issue. My thing is, this is what they call Plus Size? These women look healthy. I applaud them for having the self-confidence to pose nude, but still, it's no wonder we have so many women and young girls with self image problems in this country, when a woman who is of a healthy weight and shape is considered Plus Size. Here's the link. It's probably NSFW: www.foxnews.com/slideshow/entertainment/2009/09/11/successful-plus-size-models?test=faces

Plus size my ASS. I mean, they're no Kate Moss, but supermodels are less the ideal woman's shape, and more a moving coat rack to display clothes. These are pretty much just more normal looking women, but if anything, models are "Minus Models", and these are just Neutral. It's not called a "boyish figure" because it how all women should look or something.

Most of those girls are pudgy.
So yeah, I would define it as plus size. Not fat... Just plus size.

Argh. People, the camera adds ten pounds, plus models are supposed to basically be a canvass to the clothing. They are pieces of art. Why must they give rational women body issues?

Sorry but, being overweight isn't healthy. It's a scientific fact.

being overweight myself..i find that real plus size model beautiful...those other models are not plus size to me! I HATE the standards of what is plus size anymore. i mean many of the celebrities on Celebrity Fit Club are not fat( except k-fed) ... i mean yeah size 12 is big but its no 3x( which is my size) yes i admitted my size...

those woman are beautiful. you're probably more likely to walk by them on the street than you are those skinny models.
the average american woman is a size 14. i bet those "plus size" models are barely a 12.

they're gorgeous. Not every girl has to be a stick figure or have fake boobs to be absolutely hot.

In the modeling world "plus size" equals "what normal women look like."
Anorexia isn't attractive anyway.
There are a LOT of people who make disparaging remarks about overweight women and when you call them on it they will be like "but it's unhealthy."
Sometimes it is, but even so people making nasty comments aren't doing it because they are trying to tough love people into being a picture of health, they are just douchebags.
Besides...my caffeine intake is a health issue also..I sure as hell wouldn't want a world full of assholes judging me for it and making remarks about it.
I mean..a certain breed of (usually) men will always be insensitive to women with weight issues...it's going to happen. I just wish when they were called on it some of them at least would be honest enough to admit they are just being assholes.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure plus size refers more to bone structure and body build than weight. To use an extreme, I knew a Jamacian girl in college who had a Nepalese roomate. Neither girl was fat, but both had different body shapes.

I found them to be attractive. it's not like they're morbidly obese or something ... Hell, they're not even obese. But in today's society it seems to be expected for women to be 10 to 20 pounds below their ideal body weight, which is unhealthy in itself.
I've never seen most of these women before, but damn they look nice. But then, I have a variety of tastes.
