I have a major concern for the young fans of this period of WWE. WWE has been criticized for being biased of the past and putting down everything that existed against them. Lets use ECW as an example. I am a big fan of both Original ECW, and current ECW but the kids these days aren't like me, who hears something of the past or reads something and researches on their own, and make their own opinions rather than believe what WWE says. When the kids get older they will say "oh yeah I experienced the better ECW. Older ECW was nothing but a little promotion that used Fire and barbed wire every match. They were nothing but rejects that wrestled in bingo halls." They will think of this because of what ECW is today and what the Invasion of 2001 set up. But ECW was more than that. They said "Yeah we are different . . . so what? and took off from there. ECW was more than just weapons, they were crowd pleasers. They were the real attitude before WWE's attitude. ECW was Pulp Fiction to WWE's Forrest Gump, it had the massive following but Gump took all the awards and praise. People will see WCW in the same light of old ECW and say "they sucked too! just look at the invasion, their big stars were nothing like our stars!' And as much as I am looking forward to the Rise and fall of WCW movie, WWE will probably bash it some how in one way or another. Then when they see it they will think "Oh i know WCW now . . . and it sucks!" But then again . . . to the victor goes the spoils.
Now I never experienced any of the 90's, i didn't see WWE in my own eyes till 2004, but didn't become a continuous watcher till 2007. Im 15 and I never go by anything of what WWE says and always research videos, articles, even i go here to see the past and see what other opinions were made of a certain topic rather than just WWE's stand point. I just wish the younger ones now do what I did and relive history in via WWE and your own eyes as well.
Do I make sense or should I just shut up now?

Makes perfect sense, and the reaction of some people on here to DDP pretty much confirms you're right.

You missed something about the original ECW. There was a lot of technical wrestlers such as Dean Malenko, Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit, Eddy Guerrero, Lance Storm, etc.

I'd say you are pretty much like. I like that you have done your research because I myself was pretty much in the same position I'd say in 1999. I started watching in 1996 yet I still knew a lot about older 1980s WWF due to watching a lot of rented videos from Blockbuster.(in the town i lived in the Blockbuster was huge so it had tons of wrestling movies in VHS.....this was well before Blockbuster had any DVDs or before most people knew what dvd even was).

I'll add another example, years from now kids will look back and say Goldberg? that guy who got beatup by triple h he was nothing.

I agree with you 100%, I wish more people would do their research before forming opinions.

For all I care, Goldberg can be remembered for getting beat up by HHH. Goldberg had little talent and ended Brett Hart's career.

Goldberg gets a lot of the same bad rap that DDP gets which I don't get. Goldberg was an amazing athlete for his size and I'd say his in ring work is better if not the same as Cena's. the dude could do a freaking back flip. Who is the last person Goldberg's size that you could see do a back flip?

My point was to show how kids in a few years might perceive wrestlers from the past that where good but due to wwe's revisionist history they may never know.

I was really surprised by the end of the first post. I expected you to be a long time watcher with the points you were making. I did the same thing when I started in *cough*1992*cough*....Yeah, I went back and watched all the old PPVs. I mean how else would I have gotten to experience Zeus? But...
Do you really think kids aren't going back and watching old stuff? Especially when they see how old people like Undertaker and HBK are? Especially when Michael Cole says "Vintage whoever!" every 10 seconds. Don't you think that would raise their curiosity. And it isn't exactly difficult to get one's hands on information nowadays. Just sayin'.

With the One night stand 2 DVD there was an extra DVD included. The first ECW-show, Barely Legal.
It was an amazing show, the main event with Terry Funk was one of the most emotional moments I have ever seen in pro-wrestling. You put that against the WWECW which was allright, but nothing special, you'll know what old ECW was about.
I don't worry about young kids being brainwashed by Vince. ECW was so unique that it will be able to live on forever. Even in 50 years, people can still look at ECW and see it something that really belonged in the 90's and had a huge influence on pro-wrestling in general in that era.

On the end then WWE wins? No to the victor goes the spoils . . . WWE won the war with both, so you can't really help the fact that they are putting down the other two, because they beat them and WWE can pretty much whatever they want.
