WWE U.S. champion Kofi Kingston suggested in an interview to promote Summerslam that he was on the PPV line-up, but WWE took him off the line-up. Kofi is currently only scheduled for a live chat session on WWE's website, but not a match on the PPV.
"I think I got ahead of myself and got excited," Kofi said about his Tweet two weeks ago saying he was getting his trunks ready for Summerslam. "The card is always subjected to change; you never know what's going to happen."
Kofi explained that he always gets a pair of new trunks for every PPV. "I always have a pair of trunks for every single pay-per-view regardless if I 'm on it or not," Kofi told expressnightout.com. "Basically, these 'Summerslam' trunks will maybe become 'Hell in a Cell trunks' or 'Bragging Rights trunks' - the next pay-per-view down the road is what these trunks will be for."
Kofi was asked about WWE champion Randy Orton's recent comments about slowing down his in-ring style and now doing high-flying moves because he needs to protect his body. Kofi said he might come to that point one day, but what makes him stand out right now is the high-flying, along with Evan Bourne.
"I've only been with WWE on TV for a year and half now, and maybe once I'm around as long as Randy's been around, maybe I'll follow suite," Kofi said. "Until then, you're gonna see me fly."
Kofi also said his favorite WWE opponent is Chris Jericho and he's also enjoyed working with Big Show and Kane. Kofi said he had to take a step back when he faced Jericho for the first time in 2008.
"I had my first title shot ever in pro wrestling - independent or WWE - against Chris Jericho in 2008 at 'Night of Champions.' I looked across the ring and saw Chris Jericho. ... So, before we stepped into the ring and started I had to take a step back and smile a little bit," Kofi said. "He's one of the best, if not the best, of our time right now. It's one of my great, heartfelt moments in WWE."
