I just got finished watching The Rise and Fall of DVD. They mention how the main event from Halloween Havoc 98 got cut off. I remember back in the day, if you didn't order the PPV, you could see listen to the audio with the picture scrambled. So I am listining the the audio at the time, and all of a sudden the live feed from the Pay Per View comes in. I found out the next day at school that the students who ordered the PPV got bumped off, but the students like me who just listened the the audio, just the live feed of the Goldberg/DDP match.

We shoulda been partners, since I always got the video, but never the audio.

I always got the audio. i remember listening to Badd Blood where Kane debuted and attacked Taker. I totally couldn't see Kane at all since the TV was all snow but I could hear it.

In the early days of PPV (mid-90s and earlier), when they were scrambled out with snow, I could adjust the fine tuning on my TV and pick them all up, albeit in black & white. You have no idea how thrilling it was the first time I discovered it.

awww scrambled ppv days, those were the best, it was like wrestling radio. at one point they did broadcast wrestling on the radio. i remember because it was one night when i was riding in the car with my dad and we stumble across some station that had it on.

I got wrestlemania 15 for free. The whole ppv was aired, full audio and clear video, but I never paid for it and I didn't have the black box. It was nice.
