So, we've seen guys like Colt Cabana become Scotty Goldman...does Bryan Danielson's future hold a similar name change? I sure hope they don't do anything of the sort.
Wrestlecrap, what do you think?

I hope not either, it's his real name so he might be okay.

The real name sounds bad-ass enough. I mean, unlike some other guys, nothing needs to be changed.

Probably, for copyright reasons.

I hope they put a mask on him and call him The American Dragon. If only to keep me from having to see his giant ugly head.

I'm going on a limb and saying he keeps his name. He has enough 'friends' that will let him keep his name, unlike Colt who only had one guy of prominence to go to bat for him.

If I had to put money on it, I would say yes they will change his name. They want something they can 100% own and the person cannot use once they are no longer in the company.
In this case, that wouldn't really matter, since he's already a big time player on the indy scene, so he would want to use his real name there anyway, since it's what he's known as.
But still, it seems like they change everyone's name. I mean why change Jake Hager to Jack Swagger, or Matt Sydal to Evan Bourne, or Lance Hoyt to Vance Archer, etc. It's all about getting that copyright on it and owning the identity.

Well, if they are interested enough in him, and since it's his real name, they could just trademark the name like they did Cena.

Maybe they'll go the Jack Swagger route, and call him Byron Davidson.

It all comes down to whether he'll sell his name
Hell Matt Sydal was a real name too but that got dropped as did Jake Hager

See, I keep going back to how the announcement was worded and how he has "agreed in principle" to the contract. In that, I believe that means he has control over certain aspects of his persona that otherwise would be out of his control. Meaning, if he comes in under a different name... it'd be because he wants it to be that way, otherwise.... I really see him coming in as Bryan Danielson, if not "American Dragon."

Here's an interesting thing about the contract. He hasn't signed it yet. When he agreed in principle, basically he simply agreed to sign one. He still has to go through blood testing, the physical, and has to sign the contract. What happens if ROH posting that on their website causes WWE to not want to bring Dragon in?

I don't see why a new name would be that big of a deal.
Unless they bring him in as Chester McSoftenpants.

I don't think his name is all that chantable, WWE loves easily chantable names.
Maybe he'll be Jimmy Wang Yang's stereotypical Asian friend?
