In 1997 Brian Pillman died. In 1999 Droz was paralysed.
And now I'm depressed.

Yeah, I'm always reminded on October 5th and May 23rd about wrestling tragedies.

That's a big coincidence that Droz was injured on the same date that Pillman died. I never realized that.

This same day in history saw Undertaker vs. HBK in the first ever HIAC, and the debut of Kane. Don't know if that helps or not...

Sorry to have to add some more bad new but I'm almost positive that Gorilla Monsoon also passed away on this date. I'm not totally sure but I think it is true.

This same day in history saw Undertaker vs. HBK in the first ever HIAC, and the debut of Kane. Don't know if that helps or not... That time frame seems off... I thought that it was breakdown PPV when pillman passed... the HIAC was at Badd Blood... i could be wrong, and proabbly am... sometimes my history gets all jumbled.

Pillman did indeed die just before Bad Blood 97. Vince mentioned this within the first few minutes of the PPV.
They did the "10 bell rings" salute the next night on Raw.

Shocktober (Yes, Shocktober) 5th, 1997, the late Brian Pillman died of a heart condition that wasn't detected before the autopsy.
Shocktober 5th, 1999, Darren Drozdov suffers a severe neck injury from a botched running powerbomb from D-Lo Brown.
Oh, and unrelated to wrestling, it's also the day Rodney Dangerfield died in 2004. On a brighter note, Ray Kroc (McDonalds Founder), Nicky Hilton (Heiress.... not sure what else she does), Bernie Mac (comedian and actor), and Paul from Good Charlotte were born today along with a lot of other people that I don't know that much about.
