I was just thinking of the higher power storyline and I remember some people thinking it was a cop out that that Vince McMahon was the higher power.
But my question is who would you have picked to play the role?
My suggestions would either be Shawn Michaels or Jake Roberts.

Who else has/had the pull (in kayfabe) to make Taker take orders? Jake Roberts? Really?

Admittedly Vince as the Higher Power was better than who I thought it was - I thought it was Shane, which even then I realized would make no freakin' sense.

Just for the opportunity to see Austin feud with a heel Jake, and (given the footage from their King of the Ring final) the balls-flatteningly awesome promo they would have had for the match. Pity Jake was kind of, uh...busy...at the time.

I thought Jake too. Even coked out of his mind he would've been better than Vince
But the Wrestlecrap Fan in me REALLY wanted the Higher Power to come down to the ring....only to have Taker destroy Bearer and then reveal "The Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase just to close the whole book on SummerSla.....err SummerFEST 94

Should have been Brother Love. Oh my sweet Jesus that would have been awesome. Vince: "I'm close enough, let's see who you really are." (pulls back hood) BL: "IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!" JR: "Aw, son of a bitch."

I'm still convinced that Vince Russo considered himself a candidate to be the Higher Power. He clearly wanted to be on TV given the way he immediately made himself into the biggest storyline when he jumped to WCW a few months later and in with his logic it would have made sense given how Undertaker was 'too far into his character' as Russo was the one behind all the characters.

I actually briefly thought it might be The Rock, after Austin had teamed with him a few times in the lead up to the reveal. I didn't want it to be him, but worried that it might be.
Vince was the only real candidate of anyone who was with the company at the time. Though, if Stephanie had been a bit more established, I think she could have been a fun Higher Power. That storyline was her tv debut, if I remember correctly.

Ted DiBiase. He originally introduced Taker to the WWF, and the almighty dollar is the highest power of all.
Would've made the most sense.
