IT'S ALL ABOUT THE SHORTS AND HOW YA WEAR EM! That's how it starts....I think what made it work was the Titantron because I believe the Titantron was showing how the bicycle shorts were made. IT'S ALL ABOUT THAT PINCH AND IF YOU CAN TAKE IT!!

I was pumped for Goldberg/HHH at summerslam, but they changed it to EC, Goldberg should have won that, but the match at unforgiven was also awesome.
Didn't like how he lost the title at armegeddon at all though
I think it was WWE's booking team that didn't utilize him enough, the guy was the most over face on RAW and he always felt like an after thought

Does anyone remember him having an verbal altercation with a fan who was hurling abuse his way after he was got heavily booed during his match with Jericho? I think it all went downhill from there. There were stories about him being anti-social backstage and the complaints coming from his side about not being used properly on a regular basis. This was before "This one's for you Paul!".[/b] What was that all about?

He said it to Triple H during Raw when he was about to give someone the jackhammer. I heard alot of rumors at the time that Goldberg didn't like Triple H.

After that, I dunno.

And I remember a "shoot" comment HHH made about Goldberg when the mic messed up when he was talking. I think he said something like "this mic is like Goldberg,it can't work right".

Let's be honest here, Goldberg was ALL hype. The only thing interestibg about him was his streak, and once it ended, there wasn't really anywhere to go. Didn't have a gimmick with any longetivity.

Meh, they tried to make Goldberg into a Sports Entertainer and it didn't work out. Not saying he should have gone over the entire roster, but he was best as a strong silent type.

I don't think people bemoaned HHH beating Goldberg at Summer Slam because of the sledgehammer, so much as Trips had a pulled groin that required two months of rehab and went over anyway. Then he wrestled a carefully-booked 10 minute match to drop the title with 1/10th the heat a month later and didn't wrestle again until Survivor Series.
There was really no defending that booking in lieu of the injury. A healthy HHH who could carry on a full program? Definitely a great swerve. A bicycle shorts-wearing Game with a bad pecker doing one move to beat a guy who ran roughshod over every other guy in the match, only to not wrestle a full schedule for 3 months? Not so much.

Also, I forget where exactly Triple H hit him with the sledgehammer, but I'm pretty sure the impact with it at the speed Goldberg was running would have hurt a helluva lot. As for the wig bit, just read the original post. IIRC, Goldberg was going to spear HHH. HHH dodged at the last second and hit Goldberg in the back of the head with the sledgehammer as Goldberg left his feet. And this is what I don't get about the complaint - a sledgie shot with that much force behind it could kill someone! It's not like Triple H gave him a little love-tap to the back, it came across as completely believable to me. I think they did a good job overall, leaving us with a few decent matches and memorable moments - it's just too bad it all went to crap in his Wrestlemania match with Brock. The point about Batista is a good comparison, but I think the main difference is that; whilst neither men are spectacular workers - Batista spent several years down in OVW learning "WWE style" and Goldberg didn't. Even without the extra training they made do with him well enough, but I do think there was a limit, especially when he decided he didn't want to be there anymore.

I have no idea why the wig segment gets so much hate too.
I realized early on that Goldberg could not be the same Goldberg he was in WCW. Why? Because the WWE roster was so much smaller then WCWs. He couldn't run through guys left and right, and built up an unbeatable record. Thus, he just became another big guy at the top.

I'm writing this before I read through the rest of the thread, because what's really crazy about this is I can't comment on it because I remember so little of it. I was watching back then, but I just don't remember much.
I am not exaggerating, I basically remember this:
I don't even remember how he debuted. I remember when he went after the title Triple H put a bounty on his head that I think Batista collected. Then I think he was in an Elimination Chamber match. Did he fight Gillberg at some point? A quick feud with heel Rock I think? Then he fought Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania and returned to his home planet.
My theory is that everything was just so spectacularly awesome that on a subconcious level I knew I would never again have a wrestling product so good, and so I subconciously forced myself to forget it so that wrestling wouldn't be completely ruined for me.
Either that or it was garbage.

Goldberg was there for one year. ONE YEAR! There's only so much you can do in ONE YEAR!
All things considered, it wasn't bad, unless he would've stayed longer if they kept the title on him longer or something.

I'm surprised Goldberg doesn't complain that Rock called him "bitch" when he called him out.

No way anything Goldy did in WWE compares on the suckage scale to his AWFUL WCW heel turn.

I just watched that Summerslam match again last week and it was a lot better than I remembered. I'm the farthest thing from a Goldberg fan but they made him look like an absolute beast. He destroyed Jericho and HBK. HHH actually cowered from him. If HHH didn't cheat to win, where would the WWE go from there? Did people really want him to take out all the top stars in one night, in one match?

Goldberg was given a huge push during his time in the E and as said before,he never lost cleanly to anyone, and was booked as monster.People are not happy because he didnt squash the entire roster in under 3 minutes, that and squashing Triple H.I enjoyed his time in the WWE myself.

I think it was pretty good. I just think it exposed that he's out of his element outside of the WCW setting. He's pretty good, but not great, and after a while, "pretty good" doesn't cut it from a main eventer. Exactly. And that was what his WWE run was like. Pretty good, not great. Those pissed off were mainly those that would only accept great. It didn't help that it was a pretty dull time for the WWE and Triple H in particular. That added to the complaints. He still had arguably some of the best matches of his career, though mainly because he didn't exactly have a load of four-star classics under his belt. The match against Jericho on PPV was particularly good I though but forgotten these days. The Goldust wig stuff, as said, was harmless. It's not like Goldberg loved it or anything. Though it was hilarious when Dustin mentioned that in his promo to Vince recently. "It went over like GANGBUSTERS with Goldberg!"

I loved Goldberg's WWE run. He was unstoppable, he got great pops from the audience, he had a lot of very good (though not great) matches with the likes of, of all people, Mark Henry - I just really liked his run.
And the pissing and moaning about Goldust's wig made no sense to me either.
