2000 is arguably the best year for the WWE, Smackdown was rated PG in 2000 and nobody complained then by why do we complain now??? Today's Product has nothing to do with PG it has to do with the creative team which obviously is the biggest problem today, Which brings me to my point PG means nothing and never will, the only influence PG has on WWE TV is the little box in the corner of the screen at the start of the show
Thoughts...

Mostly people are looking for a scape goat. Truth be told, PG makes no real difference whatsoever besides cutting down on uses of the word 'ass' and forcing D-X to actually be given funny material.

I don't complain about the ratings. What I've realized is that it's easier and more fun to just watch what I like and ignore the stuff that I don't. That's why I avoid Raw for the most part and have been doing so since Jericho was drafted to SD a few months ago.

It's a scapegoat.
If you read the complaints, you'd think every match going back a year ago had excessive blood and near-naked women in every single camera shot.

I don't know if the wresrlers feel pressued in their promos. Christian calling Regal "Bill" as his main diss makes me cringe. Call him an ass monkey or something please.

im not against it
But if the PG is the reason of Jericho saying"He is my friend" and etc...then i will give them a reason to complain against it

It's just people are more used to constant use of the word "ass" and people getting busted open front, left, and centre. At least, that's my take on it.

When people complain it seems they are looking for a more wrestling based product. Smackdown has mostly been a wrestling based product and, is loved for it. Even today, people complain about the crap that is RAW and not Smackdown. It's the PG skits and crap on RAW that seems to get the most hate. We can look at another show and see PG wrestling done well and then look at another and go WTF?

If SD is dominated by men aged 18-46 or whatever it is, then why in the blue hell cant they say ass instead of Butt?

It cuts down on edgier angles and gimmicks. The Brian Kendrick for example could have been a great gimmick without the PG restraints on it, as he came off like a really sleazy type of guy, someone who parties all night and hangs around with rats. That's what his gimmick came across to me as.
Swearing is ok, but it has to be done in context. If you're really angry at someone, it comes off as lame saying, I'm gonna kick your butt. It just seems forced, if you get me. I'm not saying you cut a bad CZW style promo and swear all over the place, but they can be used in certain contexts.
Same with blood. Bloods adds drama, heat and sympathy to matches and angles, and you really cut that out when you take blood away. Blood I feel is a matter of great, if you get what I'm saying. The drama for an angle could be good, but if you add some blood at certain points, it can be made better. Sometimes, lack of blood is settling, if you get me. Or "good enough". Kids aren't going to be scarred for life if they see someone bleeding. It just adds to the drama involved. As a matter of fact, a good example of a match that had lots of blood when I was younger was the Bret Hart/British Bulldog match at the December In Your House in 1995 for the WWE Title. To me, it was like, wow, these guys would kill each other for being WWE Champion, and they're brothers in law, and it was something that was epic.
I'm a big fan of violence and chaos when done right, and I think PG hurts their ability to get as much heat or sympathy as you could. The positive of the PG rating is it put an end to those god awful lingere pillow fights. Never in my life have I been annoyed by hot women in next to nothing.

It's the mentality, not the content.
The Raw team, in particular, feel as if they need to write for the kids. Leprechauns, Looney Tune-esque antics, and general idiocy run amok. I don't need swearing, boobs, and blood, but I don't want my intelligence insulted either.

I haven't really noticed anything that bothers me except that some matches deserved blood that didn't get it. Otherwise, it makes for more creative writing then just throwing out dick and ass jokes. The Attitude era is really overrated.

I don't need swearing, boobs, and blood, but I don't want my intelligence insulted either. Exactly. And the irony is, RAW's actual majority audience according to breakdowns is FORTY. And their numbers amongst children viewers have strangely dropped since the PG change for whatever reason. The whole thing as I've said a billion times on here is a smokescreen to get heat off of Linda for her Board of Education position. The "we must hook kids" thing is a ruse. In theory its a good idea. But their own audience age medians debunk the fact that they're really hooking anyone young to their TV. House shows? Another thing entirely. That said, I agree with those who said it was a scapegoat. I think the terrible brainless Hornswoggle sketches are what people lump the PG trend in with. Smackdown on the other hand is producing an old school Rasslin' show, and you don't even notice the change.

Whenever people refer to the Attitude Era in a negative connotation, they act as if it was one big hyperbolic compilation of lewd stuff. Was there bad stuff? Yeah. Was there amazing stuff? Obviously so. You could make the same argument for this era. But replace lewd with downright silly and insulting. But is there good stuff too? Hell yeah. It shouldn't be either extreme. And as bad as parts of the Attitude Era were there's some equally insulting-things in this era. They should just walk a fine line, 8-fold-path, Moderation, that sort of thing.

To be frank, I don't really catch anyone complaining about it being PG lately other than when threads are made asking why people complain about it...heh.
