I just read the spoilers at NODQ.com about this Friday's Smackdown. I've complained about this kind of stupidity before on other forums but WWE still continues to do this!
I read there's a backstage scene where Dolph Zigler is looking for the lovely but untalented in the ring Maria. The The untalented women's champion Michelle McCool is hitting on him. Layla is seen hiding in the background taking pictures.
So I guess next week on the show Layla will reveal the scandalous photos to an unsuspecting Maria. THIS MAKES NO SENSE!!!
Aren't the TV cameras all ready picking this up?? Does Layla really need to take pictures??Since it's taped on Tuesday don't you think Maria would watch the show and find out or someone would tell her beforehand??
To all you young people out there who weren't around in the good old kayfabe days, what I just described is HOW the angle should be played out. Which is in a realistic believable fashion! the way it would happen in "Real Life".
That's how angles used to be and should be done. There would be an interviewer backstage getting the scoop with wrestlers explaining stuff that has happened off camera durring the previous week of an incident that had happened or something in relation that had happened at a non televised match in an arena that past week and then the plot would thicken, become more intriguing, but most importantly it looked like it was actually happening for real! Most people would buy it and believe it! That's how tickets got sold!
But today, it's like the wrestling, Sorry! I mean "sports entertainment" writers seem to think you fans are stupid and wouldn't get it if Maria shows up on next weeks show flipping out about all raedy seeing Michelle McCool hitting on her man last week.
Instead we're going to get Layla showing Maria the photos and Maria will be totally surprised. This to me is one of the single biggest reasons why today's "Wrestling" is so terrible! Not to mention these chicks can't even work and we'll be subjected to an awful Maria/McCool match.
Enough of seeing these "Private" conversations in front of the cameras! Just because today everyone knows its a work and is scripted doesn't mean they have to do unrealistic storytelling. It's not hard to figure out how this would play in real life because that's how pro wrestling has always worked and been successful for so many generations!
Another time when I brought this topic up I had some genius giving me examples of similar stories played out on episodes of "Family Guy" and other regular TV shows how all this was also done in front of a camera. that is so ignorant and clearly not an understanding of pro wrestling!
pro wrestling was "reality TV' before there was "reality TV" ! Now it's almost to a point of why bother taping in front of a live audience? The wrestlers are supposed to know there's a camera there in front of them and that the announcers ,the live audience, the people watching at home, and the opponents they have issues with are seeing it!
If WWE (and even TNA) are going to continue to do this kind of nonsense, then as I said stop taping at live arenas and make a fictional TV series about the misadventures of sports entertainers doing stuff to each other in their daily lives then fight it out in the ring in front of an audience of paid extras. At least stuff like the angle I'm ranting about would make sense! Bring back a certain level of Kayfabe and make wrestling more real and believable again!
