Being an all around WWF mark at the time and to this day, I thought it had alot going at the time. While unrealistic and over the top at various times(the embleming of "Stone Cold", the kidnapings, the sacrifices), this was perhaps one of my favorite Undertaker incarnations. It was the most evil you can get out of the character.
I enjoyed their feud with other WWF super stable at the time, The Corporation, however, I thought it was a bad move for the two stables to annex all to take down Austin. I prefered the two stables having a blood rivalry while at the same time, Austin was in the middle of the crossfire.
Another thing that disapointed many was Vince McMahon being the Higher Power when after all those months, Undertaker was supposedly making The Chairman's life a living hell. Than on the other hand, having Undertaker's minions break into The Chairman's house and kidnap his daughter ALL to get Austin just goes to show what a maniacal heel Vince McMahon was, so points to that. He hated Austin more then he loved his family it seems.
I would say as a whole(not including the merging with The Corporation), I would give the stable's initiation and existence at the time a 7 out of 10.
A few months back, I suggested the idea of having a Jim Jones character(the cult leader NOT THE RAPPER) which strikes some similarites to The Undertaker's Ministry of Darkness, though it ain't going to happen in this PG era.
So what were your thoughts of this gruesome force?

I absolutely loved this version of the UNdertaker, the over the top character is exactly what i love in wrestling (It's probably why I loved the taker vs HBK fued earlier this year)
Agreed on the corporate ministry thing though, I woul have liked to see them feud rather than team up. There was months of storylines in a feid between he two.

My fav version of the Undertaker, along with kick ass music. Just wish it didn't all turn out to be a big swerve to get McMahon over.

I thought it would have been interesting if it had turned out that there was no physical "higher power", and that it had been some delusional creation of the Undertaker's he conjured up to drive himself into becoming the Lord of Darkness. When its uncovered, he goes really crazy and starts using the Ministry to attack everyone: the Union, Corporation, Brood, and it eventually takes everyone teaming up to eventually bring him down.

Would have loved if it wasn't for the fact that the Satanic stuff almost got me banned from watching the WWF completely (I was 11 at the time). For that reason, this era kind of leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

I was terrified when he tried to embalm Austin because I thought he was legitimately going to do it. I was such a mark!

Would Vince Russo have been crazy enough for Vince McMahon to have been the higher power....as in Vince Sr? Think about it....Taker is magical, how far beyond the realm of possibility would it have been for him to have some Ouija board or maybe something a little more complex to talk to Vince from beyond the grave.
What a swerve that would've been. Vince McMahon isn't the higher power but VINCE MCMAHON is. DUN DUN DUN!

It was a logical progression for the character, though I didn't care for it much.
I don't like the Undertaker in a stable, and due to injuries, his ring work was probably near the low point of his career. Much prefer the 1997-8 "Lord of Darkness" Taker over Ministry Taker.

He does not have the natural instinct to pull off the cold blooded killer look that hes attempting. He can grow his hair back and continue to not have facial hair and successfully pull off a cult leader type gimmick.

My favorite Undertaker persona (with Big Evil coming in 2nd). It just took his character and evilness to a WHOLE other level, kidnapping random superstars and converting them into his cult (Dennis Knight to Mideon ritual anyone?). Crucifying Austin, abducting Stephanie, hanging Big Bossman from a noose in the cell, was not only plain evil, but it felt REAL. Ontop of his look and kickass theme, all of those things is what made me actually scared of The Undertaker, but fascinated of him all at the same time.
But then, the Corporate Ministry came along..

Great music, and I think having a lot of lackeys was good, since it gave people that Austin could beat without actually pinning Undertaker himself while still having the feud, but the pseudo satanism was unnecessary, and a probable reason that it was apparently an angle that Undertaker himself didn't care for a hell of a lot.

Ministry Of Darkness was cool but like most I think the Undertaker peaked in 1997-1998.
It was a good stable but the fact that the Corporation was around kind of ruined it. I think it would have been better if they had waited till after corporation was done.
Two big heel stables usually doesn't work very well.

I like wrestling and religion kept seperate, so I had no use for the gimmick and was happy to see it gone. This gimmick was the main reason I watched so much WCW Nitro at the time.

Yeah they were both over but they were two heel stables that were over and there was only room for one at the time which is why they just put them together and it wasn't as good. I think what htey should have done was turn Ministry face considering they didn't really do much with it anyway.

There's no way a gimmick like that would be used as a face(even though Undertaker was getting pops, still, a cult stable has nothing but negativity attached to it). And secondarly, how were they not doing much with it when it WAS A MAJOR IF NOT MAIN FOCUS OF THE SHOW!?!?!?!? It involved major stars and the chairman himself.
