To be honest, it looks like he had a gaping hole in the top of his ear and packed it with gauze.

It was shiny though, in HD.
And it wasn't cauliflower ear, as he's never had it there before.

I thought it looked like some sorta weird hearing aid. But yeah I was confused as well.

My SO is pretty convinced it's just some tightly packed gauze for a serious laceration on the upper part of his ear. Kind of like when you put TP squares on your face when you nick it shaving, but times a million or so.

Maybe he got a piercing and it got infected so they covered up the area so that he could still work the PPV. Although a piercing up there would totally ruin his look. Then again, maybe he didn't plan on wearing any earrings or studs while on-camera, opting only to wear them in his personal, free-time. Hell if I know. What I do know is that, whatever it is, Teddy's ear looks creepy/gross as all get-out (primarily because I have no idea what it is).

that's like a slug or something. Kinda like those lung looking things on the sides of Cloverfield's head.

It *almost* looks like one of those brown recluse spider bites that gets all freakin necrotic. But the few glimpses on TV I saw it looked infected at the very least.

I see what it is... My ears would look like that every now when I practiced boxing or Jiu Jitsu with no head gear.
The cartlidge in his ear must have ruptured thus causing it to fill with blood. simple solution is to cut and drain the blood. the healed skin will turn to scar tissue thus causing the appearce of cauliflower ear in some people.

There was also some black tissue on the back as well, that looked pretty bad.

Oh! A hematoma- my dog just had one of those in her ear. Yeah, if that's what it is the swelling will probably go down on its own, there's no need to drain it unless it's causing discomfort.
