Do you remember when the fans would chant "RRRRRRWIN" during an IRS match ? It was a derogatory chant making fun of the name Irwin. The fans should do the same from Chavo. "KERRRRRWIN" "KERRRRRWIN!" LOL

HE WORE A TIE IN THE RING!!!
What was the world coming to - A TIE IN THE RING!!
Bobby Heenan always used to crack me up
"Referee stop the match he's standing on the man's tongue"

Yeah, he wore a tie to the ring. Remember Mr. Hughes wore sunglasses through entrie matches. He wore the sunglasses till one time Tatanka broke them.

I thought his promos were hysterical and he was a good performer in the ring.

IRS gave me one of my favorite house show moments at the old Boston Garden. I can't remember who he was fighting, but my friends and I were cheering for IRS. We were like 3rd row ringside and the place was fairly quiet, so the 7 of us chanting I-R-S, I-R-S could be heard pretty clearly. Before the match really got started IRS left the ring, grabbed the house mic, looked over at us and said "Don't even flatter yourselves ya bunch of morons." So of course we started chanting I-R-S sucks, I-R-S sucks. Good times!!

It's not like today where it is okay for a heel to turn face and vice versa, even when it is the fan's choice. Back then, they HAD to be heel, so they'll do whatever to piss fans off.

i was a big IRS fan, he was always fun to watch, especially his feud with Razor when he stole his gold chains and put them in his briefcase.
the chant wouldnt work for Kerwin because the story was that IRS hated his name and thats why he went by his initials, while Chavo proudly had his name changed to Kerwin White, so it wouldnt have the same effect.

I remember always picking IRS in a wrestling video game, the name of which escapes me at the moment, because I remember he was the only one who could do a drop kick.
Might have been Raw for Sega, but I don't think he was in that.
Was IRS in an NES game?

IRS was a damn good character, IMO. I have always been disappointed that he was inducted into Wrestlecrap because I feel that he made the gimmick work.

Yes I too was disapointed he was inducted. The character wasn't that bad. He was over as a heel, one half of the tag champions and generally a good mid-card heel.
Okay so it was kind of silly that he pretended to be a tax man but you know, pretending to be dead isn't exactly the most sane gimmick in the world.
Someone needs to throw IRS an anchor to fetch him out of the Wrestlecrap pool. He deserves a place on the diving-board maybe, but never total wrestlecrap IMO.

Yeah...I like IRS too...the induction of him into the Crap I believe was more the gimmick itself rather than the character...I think RD even said that he played the character up to par...much like Repo Man did.

I remember it being said that he didn't induct the Undertaker because he made the gimmick work. I think Ric "The Model" Martel and I.R.S. have both done the same, yet are still in WC.

But even the gimmick doesn't deserve induction. If it does then there is NO argument for Undertaker staying out.

I don't think it was a good idea to induct IRS or The Model. If you induct them, you HAVE to induct Goldust and the Undertaker.
The same reason is behind all them: Their execution of the gimmick was perfect, but the gimmicks self sucked.
If you ask me, it's kind of contradictory that you have to induct IRS or the model, but not Goldust or the Undertaker. Sure, Goldust and definitely undertaker had more success, but it's not like it was the fault of the wrestlers that the nature of their gimmicks suck. As long as they pull off right, it's all good.

I guess the model and irs are considered wrestlecrap, cause there weren't enough people to say they weren't wrestlecrap. im sure there were many more people defending the undertaker than them. Plus undertaker was world champion, these two werent in their gimmicks
Rick Martel was AWA world champion, as Rick Martel, not the model.

Wrestlecrap is more for gimmicks where you have to sit back and wonder "How will this ever make us money?" - IRS was a money-maker. PEople came to see him get his cummupance. They paid to see him and Dibiasi as Money, Inc. Compaire to, say, the Ding-Dongs. Who no one wanted to see and who were booed out of the arena. There's a big diffrence. The Model, IRS, Taker, Goldust: these gimmicks made money, and made sence, even if in a perverted wrestling-sort-of-way.

I haven't thought about that chant in years. It was very funny whenever IRS would come out to very loud "Irwin" chants ;D.
