The Reverend Comes To RAW
Left and Right work together to host RAW...and reform schools.
by Matt Fowler
September 18, 2009 - We learned last Monday that Cedric the Entertainer was set to host this upcoming Monday's RAW, but now we know who'll be hosting the show the following week. It's none other than the Reverend Al Sharpton!
We're used to certain odd-fellows showing up on RAW these days, but what could Al Sharpton possibly have to promote? Why, it's "Achievement Gap" Tour - whic will feature Sharpton hitting the road with, of all people, Former House Secretary Newt Gingrich, and Education Secretary Arne Duncan. With stops in Philly, New Orleans, Baltimore and Atlanta, Sharpton and Gingrich will be raising awareness for the "achievement gap" currently facing public schools in the U.S. and highlighting the efforts to reform public education.
Could there even be a remote possibility of seeing Gingrich on RAW? I smell new Tag Team Champions.

Dammit all. I was hoping he really wasn't going to be a guest host.

Because when I think "intellectual development", I think "pro wrestling".
Although having a time traveling Friedrich Nietzsche host RAW would certainly be an interesting experience.

I want to know who the hell WWE thinks they're going to attract with this. The kind of people who watch wrestling aren't generally going to want anything to do with Al Sharpton, while the kind of people who like Al Sharpton don't exist aren't likely to tune into Raw just to watch him.

So, i can assume MVP and Henry will be Main Eventing that week? which, to be honest, wouldn't be a bad thing.

Yeah, it'll be Mark Henry/MVP/Cryme Tyme/Shelton Benjamin vs. Cena BEAT UP WHITEY CHALLENGE. And Cena will still win. With Al Sharpton's help. HEEL TURN SWERVE. AL gets on the mic and says he's not really black, he's white. "I'm so glad I finally got that off my chest, I feel... free, truly free. FREE AT LAST FREE AT LAST THANK CENA I AM FREE AT LAST. WHITE POWER"

Hey, if the rumors are right about The Fink coming back the 28th, maybe it won't be so bad. I do know that I will try to avoid not only the RAW thread, but the entire WWE board during that time (aw, who am I kidding, I love watching a good car crash take place...)

Normally, I'm open-minded and optimistic for any of the Raw guest hosts.
But, I can't see this working. At all.

I want to know who the hell WWE thinks they're going to attract with this. The kind of people who think wrestling is for dumb kids and dumb hillbillies who just care for staged violence. Basically, it helps clean up their image. I think this is going to be a trainwreck, but for a political junkie like me, it's a must watch trainwreck!

I'm gonna have to disagree with most of you. To me, seeing Sharpton host RAW is such an oddity that I feel like I absolutely can't miss it.

Son of a bitch! This is getting me almost enraged, to even GO to Albany. Oh boy, Mods, you'll need a hug now I'm adding one more thing: I'm making up, along with my sister, my brother, and my sister's boyfriend, the STFU chant the moment the man appears in the ring or on the 'Tron. Board explosion will not reflect the anger I feel at the time. Now you may pick at this if you will.
