Being from Houston, I never really had the chance to watch ECW during it's golden era. I mainly had to follow it through magazines and things like that. Well, lately I've been watching episodes of ECW Hardcore TV on YouTube. Mainly the stuff from 1996, and Jesus, it didn't get much cooler than Extreme Championship Wrestling. So much different than anything WWE and WCW were doing at the time. The matches, the characters and the story lines are amazing. Sucks that I missed out on it when it was happening back in the day. I wasn't able to watch an ECW show until they made it to PPV. I wish THAT ECW was still around. Lord knows we could use it nowadays. So lets use this thread to sing the praises that was Extreme Championship Wrestling.

Same deal with me. Luckily my cable company showed ECW pay per views. It's how I got introduced to Japanese wrestling by watching guys like Masato Tanaka and Hayabusa.

I think I ordered Heatwave 99 back in the day.
Great times.

I remember the the first time I saw ECW in action was when they were doing the original invasion angle on Monday Night Raw. It blew my mind to finally see these guys after only seeing the pictures of them and from that day on I couldn't get enough.

They used to be on Sports Channel Philadelphia Tuesdays at 11. We didn't get that particular channel until June of 96 and I remember being so excited. Coincidently, after ECW was the little remembered WCW Prime show.

I used to get this on some local channel at like 6PM on Tuesdays in DC's Virginia suburbs.
I was playing little league I remember so I was like 10 or 11 which would've put this around 1996. I was the only person I knew that got it or knew of it.

One of the first pay-per-veiws I ever saw was wrestlepalooza '97 and I was enthralled, it was like nothing I had ever seen before. I got caught up and kept up with them through the internet and tape trading and stayed with them till the bitter end. To this day the old ECW is my all time favorite promotion, I don't know what the wrestling world, or I as a wrestling fan, would've done without them.

May the REAL ECW one day rest in peace. I'm tired of seeing its legacy tarnished by the McMonopoly. IT'S STILL REAL TO ME, DAMNIT!

To this day, it's still the best time I've ever had as a wrestling fan. I fortunately had the benefits of tape-trading, PPV, and random satillite broadcasts to keep me relatively in the loop. One of my all-time best experiences at a wrestling show of any kind was when I got see ECW front row at a television taping. As I recall at the time, high-fiving Van Dam and having him gloat over in my corner was the most authentic markish rush.

I remember buying a ticket for a show in Toledo, OH towards the end of ECW. Scott Hall had just shown up and I was excited to see him. I drove 2 hours, parked, and walked in on a Future Financial Partners of America conferance and no ECW. Turns out the bastards cancelled and didn't bother letting anyone know til that night. AND I never got my money back. Screw Paul Heyman and ECW.

I got to see ECW live once. It was for a TV taping when they had the show on TNN in the summer of 2000. I believe it was the only time the old ECW ever came to Houston. The main event was RVD vs Kid Kash, fantastic match. By far the coolest thing of the night was a match between Tommy Dreamer and Scotty Anton, only because they fought threw the crowd and Dreamer and Anton came brawling down the aisle I was sitting in and I had to move out of the way to avoid getting smacked by Dreamer. It was awesome.

You know, I didn't know what ECW was until 2004. Pretty weird considering my screen name. However through youtube/dailymotion and torrents, I learned about the epicness that was Extreme Championship Wrestling. Just a damn shame that Paul E. doesn't know money because if he did, ECW would still be here (obviously) and would probably be a lot bigger. Although, I do admit that sometimes ECW is a tad bit over-rated, but I digress. Anyways, ECW = ****ing Awesome!

I love original ECW more than any other promotion from any era combined.

I remember I was 17 the first time they came to St. Charles, MO, not far from my hometown. I begged and begged my parents to let me drive, but they wouldn't hear of it.
I'm still bitter.

I love original ECW more than any other promotion from any era combined. Seconded. Don't care if anyone says it's overrated. Watching it during its good years was simply FUN. As for when they first had that mini "invasion" in 1997, watching those shows now I'm very amused by the fact the ECW segments on RAW were 500x more entertaining than anything WWF was doing themselves at the time, with the possible exception of Bret and Austin.

Ah, those were the days. Watching ECW on the syndicated channel 38 in Detroit and going to shows at the Michigan State Fairgrounds. I used to stay up to watch it and wake up to go to school the next day. Those were awesome times. With channel 38, I could watch wrestling literally every day of the week.

Too bad it was greatly over rated and their influence began to wane right after Barely Legal.
