uk.youtube.com/watch?v=CTmhVhFlwVowhich is then followed by Russo coming out and essentially firing Hogan which led to Hogan sueing WCW. I didn't know about this until last night, but what I wondered was, the show mustve gone off the air after this match, Hogan left the arena straight away? or hung around while Russo was shooting in the ring? Anyone on here watch it live know what happened?

I have the show and this wasn't the last match. It was around the middle to the end of the show as they had a few more matches to get out such as Nash/Goldberg for Hall's contract and the Graveyard match with Vampiro/Kiss Demon and the Booker.T/Jarrett match.

Alittle odd that the title match wasn't the main event, no?
Unless Russo knew what he was going todo all along.

Also IIRC, Hogan was overheard bitching his way out of the arena about the entire situation. According to some sources, Hogan and Russo celebrated working the fans only to have a disagreement later that resulted in this worked shoot becoming a shooted work.
This is the part where you shrug your shoulders and chalk it up to WCW flat out shooting itself in the foot. Again.

Wait so it was a work but turned into a real spat while congradulating themselves on fooling the fans?

You know, some people have speculated that Hogan was pissed off that Russo called him bald.

There was something about this in Eric Bischoff's book. If I remember correctly, I think "Lionheart" Jay Carol above has it right. Either way, this whole incident was stupid and epitomizes everything that was wrong in WCW.

You know, some people have speculated that Hogan was pissed off that Russo called him bald. I was gonna mention this too. It made me laugh heartily. So being a politicking manipulator was perfectly fine but insinuating Hulk Hogan is folically challenged is where the line is drawn, lol. Somehow it's appropriate. But the whole Russo promo and Jarrett laying down for Hulk was a BAD IDEA, along with all of Russo's other bulls***.

"And you people can love him and hate him, but he doesn't screw anybody back there, and that's Jeff Jarrett" - Vince Russo later on in the night
Ha.

Bischoff's book said that the laying down for Hulk was planned and that Hogan was fine with it because it was going result in a tournament for the belt that was going to be the whole build up to Halloween Havoc and was going to be a big pay off.
However, Russo then went and did the shoot after Hogan and Bischoff left the arena to sell the angle. Which not only betrayed Hogan, but Bischoff as well since they were supposed to agree on all aspects of the show.
That's just what Bisch's book said. Not necessarily the truth, but I believe it.

RD crapped all over this one. Is this one of the few times that he sides with Hogan on this one?
As for my thoughts, this is one of the very few good things Russo has done during his term in WCW; having the guts to stand up to Hogan. After Hogan's firing, nobody talked about him anymore in WCW, save for a few.

Let's just remember that night as the night Booker T took the final step from being a WCW faithful upper mid-carder to WCW World Champion.

This entire angle was retarded. Why would you do something like this to your biggest name?

Someone already said it here...
Hogan was gonna win the belt, there was gonna be a big angle where Hogan was gonna be taken off TV for a bit, meaning the World Title was gonna be vacated, and Hogan was gonna come back with "his" World Title belt to meet the winner of the tournament to see who the Undisputed WCW World Champion was gonna be, but Russo shooting after the match screwed everything up.

The only reason I brought it up was because RD speculated that this was the reason Hogan left WCW in his induction for this angle.
