www.rohwrestling.com/news/article.aspx?id=2599"February 13th: ROH Officials have heard the comments of several fans as it pertains to the ring music used by Bryan Danielson. Rest assured that ROH has exhausted itself trying to find an economically feasible way to keep the loved “Final Countdown” playing at live events, on PPV, and on the upcoming HDNet Television Production. We, unfortunately, are at a standstill. Royalty fees are astronomical, and we need your help. If you are a musician, or know a great band, please email rohwayne@gmail.com. We know that music is a huge part of any event, ROH notwithstanding, and we want to do it right!" I HOPE THEY FIND A SOLUTION EDIT: also all the entrance themes would be changed, thats sad.

With them being on PPV it was a matter of time that this would occur.

Well, this is what ECW started doing once they got more popular. Get lesser known musicians to cover their wrestler's themes so they could stay on.
I have a feeling the Souls won't mind having El Generico coming out to Ole...

Man, this just makes me miss the old days more. No Ole? I think I'm gonna cry... Yeah this is one thing that seems pretty important to save, good news is bouncing souls are not on a major label (Epitaph is sort of a major independent label) so licensing might not be that expensive for "ole!"

I still do not understand this.
Serious question: does Major League Baseball have to pay royalties for every song played over the loudspeaker at the stadiums that might make it on the TV broadcast? So many players come to the plate to their own "entrance" music, you'd think that would be even more astronomical than a wrestling show would have to pay. And if MLB (and other sports) don't have to pay to use songs that play in the background, then why does wrestling?

That sucks, the only 2 themes I really cared about them keeping were Generico's and AmDrag's

Poor little ol' wrestling isn't the only place where licenses have to be obtained.

Okay, good. I was gonna come out my chair if I found out "major sports" didn't pay for those things.

I actually think this is a good thing. There are a ton more better indy bands out there today that actually know how to play. It isn't th e80s or early 90s garage bands anymore.
In my local high school they had battle of the bands when I use to go there and 4 out of 5 of the bands knew how to really play and were good enough to get signed.

I would have never given a excretory matter about that song or that band without Brian Danielson.
Of course, I don't really give a excretory matter about the band anyway..but still..the song? Never would have cared.
I can see them charging some fees for usage but to over price free advertising is just one reason downloading isn't the only thing killing the record industry.

It's a bad situation, because I want to see bands get paid, but I also want to see the wrestlers not come out to crappy, generic rock songs, like most of the people in WWE do. Shame there's no middle ground to find between the licensers and ROH. And the sucky part is, I don't even think artists see the majority of royalty fees, thanks to the RIAA and the labels.
