Cena is approaching Kenshiro-level overpoweredness. Dial it down. In an old interview, Cena did say he liked Fist of the North Star. Hell, just give Cena the Kenshiro gimmick. Thousand 5-Knuckle Shuffle of the North Star

Why do you have John Cena in quotes? Are you implying he's not here?

Cena needs to feud with someone who, no matter what, he just can't beat...I kinda like Swagger in this role.
He loses in various ways....accidentally getting himself dq'd, getting counted out...he just can't beat him.
It would show that Cena is human, and that he does have some weakness...which may help fans better relate to him

Isn't That more or less what they did with Cena vs. Kurt Angle for a majority of their feud?

Step 1. Get a new look.
What do Hogan, Flair, Macho, Austin, Rock, HHH have in common? They look like wrestlers not gigantic 12 year olds.

I don't think there's anything wrong with his character, it just doesn't jive with what happens onscreen. I could get really behind John Cena's confident underdog character if he was actually ever an underdog. Exactly. Cena as a character doesn't need fixing. The people writing the storylines for the character need fixing. of course how can you write the heels who have all the advantages as underdogs either?

Two things would improve Cena's gimmick by far:
1. Can he PLEASE stop sounding so f***in' unconfident? those stupid writers actually go out of their way to not let him say things like "I'm gonna win this Sunday". It's always "I'll bring my A-game", or "I won't quit". I know they want to sell him as a humble underdog, and that's okay. But the way they do it is so heavy-handed and unrealistic.
2. They probably won't do this, but we need to start seeing heels who'll stand up to him. Cheating and being an asshole is fine, but not outright cowardice, those days should be past us. I don't need to tell anybody that it's more exciting to watch a title match where one wrestler isn't supposed to be scared shitless of another and not willing to fight.

He isn't turning heel just yet. He isn't gonna start randomly rapping either.
Best I can see is Cena comes out with a flannel t-shirt or something.

Actually, I think Cena needs to be edgier. It's not so much his character, but the whole "I don't quit" superhero thing... Good god, it's so vanilla.
