I'm not just being biased because i'm a HUGE Mysterio mark and because I idolise him, but does anyone else think he was jobbed out way too much? I can buy him losing to the hosses and giants that he lost to just because of the size difference. I can absolutely buy him losing to Kurt Angle because Kurt's the best in the world, but I just don't think that a guy who you've decided is gonna be one of the "faces" of your company and representing it as a World Champion should have jobbed as much as Mysterio did. Thanks to all who take the time to reply

I think the general opinion on here will agree with you. WWE has done it a few times in recent years where babyface World champs lose bunch of non-title matches. I think the theory is that it builds them as the underdog but you can ague it makes them seem more like chumps.

Uh...yeah.
I'm pretty sure the general consensus is that Rey was one of the worst booked world champions ever.

yeah it's believable that Rey loses to the giants he faced, however why would you put the guy as champion if you're not going to book him as the best in the company? That's what champion means and it is rarely the case, judging from booking, ESPECIALLY in Rey's case.
I hated it when they gave him the title, but I hated it even more when they jobbed him out because it made the title seem meaningless.

Yes, he was. Sure it's realistic for Rey to have lost to Khali, Henry et al. But the point is, he shouldn't have been booked against them in the first place, especially when they weren't feuds.
Whether Rey was too small to ever be world champion is a different subject but WWE deliberately, for whatever reason, made it look like that was the case. If you're world champion, you're supposed to at least have a claim at being the very best pro wrestler on the planet (in a kayfabe sense).

When the average redshirt on Star Trek looks like he has a better chance of winning a fight than you do, yes, you've been jobbed out beyond repair.

For more recent comparisons look at Punk's first WHC run against Batista.

Rey never should have been champion in the first place. It was done, for lack of better terms, to cash in on the sympathy following Eddie's death. However, once he became champ, they had no confidence to put him over anybody. I can't remember a World Champion constantly losing non-title matches. It was just bizarre.

Rey is a textbook example of how NOT to book your champ.

He never should have been World Champ to being with, IMO. When your 5'3" and 150 and all of your opponents will have at least a foot and 100lbs on you, it shouldn't happen.
So it's not that he was jobbed out too much, it's that WWE decided to use logic for once but, it was just at the wrong damn time.

No!
I think he should have been jobbed more. After being squashed, matches should have been restarted a few times, allowing him to job multiple times per show.

Rey should never have been champ at all, in my opinion.
As to jobbing him out, well seeing him beat the likes of Kane and JBL was ludicrous at the best of times, without having to see him dominate them week in, week out.
Sorry, but not even wrestling can legitimately portray a 5 foot nothing flippy guy as being capable of defeating a 6 foot 8 powerhouse. The booking was bad, because even creative knew there was no way to make it look good.

Rey had one feud as champ in which he was presented as an aggressive and effective champ, and that was against King Booker.
Why they didn't do that for him against Orton or JBL I'll never know.
