A lot of people have complained over how stagnant the title picture has been on RAW lately, so I did a little quick research on the RAW title picture starting AT Wrestlemania this year on Randy Orton's matches v Triple H and V John Cena, these include tag team matches, three way matches or anything that got them on opposing sides on either RAW or on PPV in the TWENTY FIVE weeks since Wrestlemania.
Randy Orton matches v Triple H 14
Randy Orton matches v John Cena 11
Twenty five matches against the same two people in 25 weeks. I'd wager that its an indisputable fact that the product is stale, uninspired and booked in a lazy manner. Especially surrounding the current world champion.
I didnt do the work to see how many times Triple H and Orton or Cena and Orton have faced one another on TV or PPV but I wouldnt be shocked if it was closing in on 100 combined.

There was also some report that stated that for the last few years since 2007, a percentage of the Raw main events and PPV matches have been some mixture of Orton, Cena, and Triple H. I had to laugh at that, sadly.

They seriously should have booked Henry vs. Orton at Summerslam.

Its even more stale when you consider that Orton is really the only ME heel on RAW.

They seriously should have booked Henry vs. Orton at Summerslam. Mark Henry was too busy losing all his heat playing games with Hornswoggle.

Remember in 2008, when Jeff Hardy was injected into the main event scene out of nowhere? Orton and Hardy had one of the best matches at Royal Rumble..
Why can't they just do something like that again?
I'm not the biggest MVP fan..but I'd take that match.

Honestly, I think that trying to appeal to the kids is directly related to the fact that there are a total of four main event heals between Raw and SD. Technically, there are less since Show and Jericho are busy doing the tag thing.
You want the kiddies to cheer for the babyfaces, and keep them all excited, so you truck out babyface after babyface, from Horny to Cena, and they go over the evil heels. You have DX do thier comedy thing and, whether or not they make Legacy look credible in the ring (which they have), they absolutely bury them on the mic with stupid gay jokes.
The kids giggle and don't take the heels seriously.
Now you look at the ME on both shows. Raws's got Orton on one side, Cena and (when their available) Trips and Shawn on the other. One heel to play the foil, that's it.
ON SD, you've got Punk as the lone ME heel going agasint Taker and Batista. This too will get old fast, because the kiddies and their short attention spans can only take watching the same guy for so long.
WWE has always been about putting the babyface out front, waving the banner and getting the attention. That's fine, but until they elevate someone, anyone, things aren't going to change. Orton only has two opponents, three at most, while Punk has two guys who are "main event" to work with.
Everyone else is just kinda there.

I had to laugh at that, sadly. By their lonesomes, the number is in the high 90 percents, if not square at 100 percent (note: I also count title matches as main events even if they are not at the top of the card on PPV's).

Orton only has two opponents, three at most, while Punk has two guys who are "main event" to work with. Everyone else is just kinda there. And yet still the rumours abound that Edge will return as a face as well. Take your best heel of the past four years, and turn him face, just when you really need someone with main event credibility to take the pressure off Orton. Genius. Jericho seems content, and seriously enjoying himself, doing the tag team thing with Big Show, and Punk isn't at that level, nor will he be, if he's going to take a back seat to 'Taker v Dave. And after those three, William Regal is probably the next biggest heel they've got. Push MVP to give Orton someone different to play with, give Cena some sort of grudge programme with a likely midcarder, to take him out of the main event picture for a few weeks. Hell, he could even go up against one of Legacy, to give them further credibility. On Smackdown, get Taker and Bats over with, so they can both go back to being injured. Bring Edge back as a heel, as he makes a terrible face. Move Christian over to Smackdown to feud with him, and set up a Regal v Goldust ECW scrap until guys like Tatsu and Sheamus are ready to step up.
