It was about Paul E Dangerously wanting to get revenge on WCW for the way he was being treated.

Dangerously I believe was suspended in real life over I think something to do with Eddie Gilbert so WCW creative decided to make this a storyline by having Paul E from a stable led by Ravingshing Rick Rude to take out WCW's heroes.

In kayfabe Paul E Dangerously was fired as a WCW announcer. So at Halloween Havic 91 the Halloween Phantom debuted and was later to be revealed to be Rick Rude. Paul E established that WCW did not remove him as a manager and he created a stable, the Dangerous Alliance to run havok on WCW. I think it was targeted towards Sting, I'm not postive. Anyway the blow of Wargames match is hella good.

Storyline-wise, Paul E. was suspended from WCW for "making controversial statements" (like that the heels were better than the babyfaces, heh heh). And then he returned about a month later at Havoc 91 with Madusa (who came into WCW the month before and wrestled a few women's matches) and Rick Rude to form "The Dangerous Alliance" to bankrupt WCW (should've just let Paul have access to their finances, yeah you knew it was coming) by "destroying all your heroes" like Sting, Steamboat, Dustin Rhodes, Ron Simmons, etc. Then added other great talented heels like Austin, Arn, Zbyszko and Eaton. Talk about a supergroup.
The D.A. gave WCW a MUCH-needed shot of adrenaline after the crap year that was 1991. Then Bill Watts came in mid 92, de-valued and de-pushed them as a formidable threat and broke them all up by the end of the year.

You definitely need to subscribe to the Observer and read the issues from 1991 to read why Paul E. was going to be fired/was suspended. I actually need to go read that story myself, it's pretty interesting

Kind of sounds like a mash up of the Dungeon of Doom and the nWo.

Yes but Erik Watts had the kind of talent that was going to change the face of wrestling forever. So you can forgive Bill Watts for depushing people that weren't his son

And if I remember, that War Games match got 5-stars from Meltzer (it deserved it).
I love the finish to that match. So simple yet so awesome. Larry Z undoes the top turnbuckle from the ring post. Eaton is holding Sting. Larry goes to hit Sting, Sting ducks, Larry clocks Eaton in the shoulder. Rude is knocked down by Sting, then Sting puts a standing arm-bar on Eaton, wrenching on the shoulder and Eaton surrenders.

Maybe a trainer for an MLB team like Dale Torberg(kiss demon) was but i'm not sure. Last time I heard about him was his little authority role run in TNA a few years back. As for Dangerous Alliance I think they were trying to form a good heel stable since The Horsemen were long gone. Probably the reason they tried to bring back the Horsemen in face form a year later after the DA was broken up.

The DA was were I first saw Steve Austin. Which lead me to wonder what the hell touch either company so long to give him a push. That was 1992 and he didn't hit it big until 1997. And really WWE only gave him a push because they had to, the intial Ringmaster gimmick was going to go anywhere. He had everything going for him for years and I wish he would have had his big run prior to his knee and neck injuries limiting his mobilty and abilities in the ring.

I loved the Ringmaster gimmick and its leading to the exodus of Ted Dibiase from the WWF. Granted. I was 10 or 11.

Funny how the Dangerous Alliance ended with a much better payoff then WCW's other heel factions: the Horsemen and the nWo, both of which often faded away or just stopped being together. At least the DA had a breakdown that occured via babyface defeat.
