They've done this before and I've always wondered the same thing. You aren't competing against YOURSELF. It was like heading to Unforgiven 06, if Cena had lost to Edge has going to SD. They treated it like his funeral, complete with Teddy Long sitting in an empty sky box full of boxes and old cups. I hate it when they make "going to Smackdown" a punishment stipulation in the match. They did the same thing with the Matt Hardy/Edge feud and the Khali/Kane feud. Did you ever see "loser goes to Raw" a stipulation in a Smackdown or ECW match ?

This pissed me off last night. You don't bury your other programming. It wouldn't have been so bad if Jericho got a few lines in defending Smackdown and burying Raw as well. But, that didn't happen.
I get the whole Raw vs Smackdown feud should have some insults thrown. But, it shouldn't be one-sided. At least the Raw vs Smackdown feud going into Survivor Series 2005 was an even battle.

I know why they do it, because they want fans to feel Raw isn't big enough for the both of them. That's fine. But time after time they make it feel as if going to Smackdown is a punishment. They should just leave it as "Loser goes to Raw". That leaves the loser open to either ECW or Smackdown, and just like that, you DIDN'T bury either show.

I don't know. Smackdown is pretty unwatchable for me, and it has been pretty much since Edge got injured. I wish RAW would do more with its midcard, but for the most part I like those guys better than who's on Smackdown I agree. Granted,I couldn't watch Smackdown if I did want to(Dish Network doesn't carry our MyNetwork affiliate). However,a couple months ago,I was housesitting for my cousin. I was at his house for a month and had access to MyNetwork but I still had no desire to watch. The only guys I would even want to see on Smackdown are CM Punk and Edge(and he's injured). I'm not counting Jericho at the moment since he's on both shows currently. Smackdown at the time had the three guys I dislike most in WWE(Jeff Hardy,John Morrison, and Rey Mysterio). Hardy has since left but Morrison and Mysterio remain. Plus,Raw has more in the midcard I like(The Miz,Kofi,MVP) plus Shawn Michaels. Anyway, back to the original topic,I don't really know why they bury Smackdown. I understand it from the kayfabe point of view since they are setting it up for Bragging Rights. I'm sure Smackdown will get their shots in at Raw Friday night. Still,it just seems like bad marketing. I don't know. I'm sure Smackdown will win the match though. They always seem to win those matches.

Maybe RAW will talk all the mess leading up to Bragging Rights and then Smackdown! wins.

I'd like to hear Smackdown's kayfabe riposte before I make any wild accusations. You think Jericho is REALLY going to let it lie ?

I don't think the two top rival gangs of, say, New York City get together once every year to go fight the top two gangs of Atlantic City just for city superiority, so not really. If we looked at them as athletes instead of gangs, we could point to All-Star games. Rivals work as a team to beat the other conference/division. that's pretty close but in all those sports the teams have at least played each other at some point during the season so they've had contact to build off of. baseball now has a reason to work together- home field in the world series. and despite wanting to win there's the "let everyone get in the game for at least a few plays" factor in the all star games which i would think cuts down on the intensity a bit. something which they're actually trying to build up here. raw/smackdown on the other hand hardly ever interact (not counting the now unified tag belts) so they're nothing really to build anything off of to the point of forgetting about/setting aside your feelings towards the guys you've feuded with in the meantime. i can see DX in the room with Cody having this conversation trying to work it out. ------------------------------------------ HHH- "hey Cody i know we've tried to cripple each other these last few months but don't worry we got your back against that damned Finlay!!! " Cody- "OK HHH, i'll make sure Mike Knox doesn't jump you either cause we're here for each other." HBK- 'Um guys, why do we hate Finlay and Knox again?" HHH- Cause' they're on Smackdown! they wear blue, we wear red!" Cody- "Yeah HBK get with the program!" HBK- "But i haven't even seen either of those guys since the draft show. what did they do to us since then to make us join up with this guy? <gestures to Cody>" HHH- "We have to show them we're the better show before we ignore them for another four months that's why! If we have to put up with him to do it then that's what we have to do." Cody- "Hey!" HBK- "You sure he won't jump us from behind during the match?" Cody- "Of course not. we're all team RAW! nothing else matters but that. Besides, wasn't Hornswoggle wearing your chaps the other night." HBk "Don't go there Cody." HHH- "And the wig, that was pretty funny, except the wig had more hair than you do Shawn." HBK- "WE DO NOT!! TALK ABOUT!! THE HAIR!!!" Cody- "And Finlay IS Hornswoggle's father." HBK- <has a conniption> "THAT DOES IT!!! SMACKDOWN'S GOING DOWN!!!" <storms out of the locker room> HHH <makes a checkmark on his list> "OK Cody now we got to figure out a reason for the rest of the team to hate Smackdown too." Cody- "Right Boss." ----------------------------------------------------- this just seems more of a "hey we have a PPV coming up- you guys now must suddenly acknowledge your never seen hatred of the other brand that only comes out this month and at the draft shows" to me.
