They've already shifted to a programming service format, and a number of their affiliates are pretty low-powered anyway, leaving a lot of Smackdown fans upset because they can't see the show. Those aren't attractive prospects for contract renewal.
I don't have many ideas as far as who the WWE would seek as an alternative (a lot of fans have doubts about NBC), but possibly having top draws like Cena and Undertaker alongside Punk- who's rapidly turning into a golden boy- on a network that's not in too many homes has to be in the back of Vince's mind.
So if Orton wins the Iron Man and knocks Cena off Raw, will they try to find a new channel, or stay put?
(Then again, I wouldn't mind seeing Cena on ECW. He'd boost the show's credibility and could work well with Regal.)

As much as this pains me to say, Orton in all likelihood isn't retaining. However, if Cena were to end up on the blue brand, it would probably be more of a move to give SmackDown! that much needed "star power" element that Vince and co. seem to harp on so much. The only problem with that is, SmackDown! does just fine for being on a dead network, and if the WWE is insistent on staying on terrestial TV, they're pretty much snorked for options.
This whole thing is a mess.

They can try FOX, but Fox is notoriously... unstable. Vince, for all his faults, is right to want to want a STABLE time slot. Fox is notorious for constantly shifting shows into different timeslots AND diffferent days. It's quite annoying. I'm not sure any of the big non-cable networks want wrestling on their channels, or at least, on their more bigger, mainstream, ones.

Orton will win. Cena will move to Smackdown. The Royal Rumble will happen. The Road to Wrestlemania will begin. All of the big stars will be cross-promoted.
They are moving Cena to try to pop ratings on Friday nights because they don't have to compete with pro or college football on Fridays. The PPV is 10/25. The Rumble is 1/31. The move is basically for 3 months, and then there will be 2.5 months of Mania cross-promotion. And then they'll do another draft and move him back for another year of Three's Company starring John Cena, Randy Orton and Triple H, with HBK playing the role of Don Knotts.

Personally, I think if Orton retains, Cena should be sent down to ECW for the rest of his career. ;D
Also, to add insult to injury, Orton should win with an STF.

I don't even get MyNetwork TV on DirecTV. For a while they were airing SmackDown on the CW at 11:30 Friday nights but they stopped doing that two weeks ago.

I imagine that Fox would kill for a consistent ratings producing 2 hour show on Fridays. Nothing stuck there ever lasts.

Why don't they just put it on USA is what I wonder. All I see this week is an NCIS marathon followed by Monk at 9. Seems like they got room for it, and I'm sure it'd get better ratings.

USA doesn't want it. They'd have to pay more for it than NCIS/Monk reruns and people that dislike wrestling flat out HATE it. USA's real goal is its original programming, not promoting RAW or anything else by WWE.

The problem with that though is since MyNetworkTV doesn't even list or release it's ratings anymore, what good is said move? I mean... you have no idea if the move is helping or not other than outright guessing.

Especially since that failed with Triple H last year, and MyNetwork's markets were cut back a good chunk this fall.
