I didn't know whether to make the title "EPIC" or "historical" or "unforgettable", so i went with great, interpret that however you will. As far as feud goes, i'd say it should last at least a couple months and matches.
Right off the bat Cena/Batista come to mind for me. I think everyone expected it to be so bad, that they shocked many people, including myself. I never really got into Edge/Cena, or even Punk/Jeff (never really got into main-event Jeff ever).
As far as historic IMO, like anything close to Flair/Sting category would be Kurt/HBK for me. Every match they had can be considered epic really. WM for sure, Vengeance was almost better, ironman was one of the best i've seen. We never got a clear decisive winner though.
No Cena/Orton or HHH/Orton sarcasm!!

Would personally say Edge / Cena. I never really liked some other popular recent feuds like Taker / Batista, Jeff / Punk, or Michaels / Jericho.

I would say Jeff / CM Punk & HHH & Orton also started off well but then turned into shit.

I really enjoyed Edge/Taker. Edge going insane near the end is easily one of my favorite things to ever happen in the E.

Forgot Edge/Taker...that was pretty solid. I think HBK/Jericho suffered from too high expectations for the matches, and the storyline was kinda mehhh.

I really enjoyed the HBK/JBL feud from earlier this year. Told a good story.
But as far as epicness goes: Austin/Rock.

For me, there's no doubt the most recent is HBK/Taker. It had the epic build up, the brilliant promos. A real old school feud, and the perfect blow off match.
Before that it's HBK/Jericho

Punk and Hardy was the last one for me, and strangely it felt the most effortless. When you get two such distinctly different characters and you just let the magic happen, well; it happens. Whether someone is "main event level" or not never really bothered me, I just found it to be great TV and easily the "must-watch" part of the show at the time.
Before then, it was probably HBK and Taker that had the feud that was really good. Others have been good like DX and Legacy, but nothing can really compare. Before that there was the aforementioned Edge/Cena, Edge/Taker, Cena/Batista - generally speaking I think 2008 and 2009 have been a really good two years for top feuds, with the current slump only becoming apparent recently. I think once a few people are moved around we'll start to get a few new candidates; I hope so anyway.

Undertaker & HBK also had a really really good feud. They were not given more time to build but still really good.

In terms of brilliant story lines. The Ric Flair retirement angle was probably one of the best long term angles on WWE history. It started months before wrestlemania, then we had HBK vs Flair, which morphed into HBK vs Batista, which morphed into HBK vs Jericho.
It was a year long angle and a perfect example of long term booking. A brilliant story arch. I know it's technically three feuds, but they all blended so brilliantly into each other that that it feel like one angle.

Honestly, Edge/Taker. It was absolutely perfect, and here's why.
Beginning: Edge robs Taker of the belt with his MITB briefcase. Taker disappears for a while.
Edge gets hurt, forfeits the belt.
Taker returns feuds with Batista over belt.
Taker/Batista feud culminates in a HIAC where Edge returns disguised as a cameraman, hits Taker with a camera, and robs him of the title.
Edge regains the belt in a triple threat match, starts porking Vickie Guererro.
Taker earns the number 30 spot in the rumble. Wins it. Goes on to face Edge at Wrestlemania.
Vickie begins making Taker's life a living hell.
Taker makes Edge tap to the Hell's Gate and becomes 16-0 at Wrestlemania.
Vickie strips Taker of the title for using a banned submission move. Edge/Taker TLC for title where if Taker loses he is fired.
Edge dominates Taker with tables, ladders, and chairs, eventually using outside interference to regain his title and banish Taker from the WWE.
Enter Triple H and CM Punk.
Punk uses MITB to win Edge's belt. Edge goes a little crazy. Triple H video tapes Edge cheating on Vickie. Edge goes a little crazier. Vickie announces as punishment that she has reinstated the Undertaker and that Edge will face him at Summerslam in a Hell in a Cell. Edge goes f***ing insane.
Edge gets berated by Mick Foley, who says that Edge needs to man up if he wants to survive the HIAC. Edge UNDERSTANDS! and beats the ever loving shit out of Foley, with Tables, Ladders, and Chairs.
Edge spends the next few weeks giving insane promos against Vickie and the Undertaker building up the ppv. He says he's going to win by out-crazying the Undertaker.
Summerslam comes.
Taker returns and locks himself and Edge inside the cell to finish this once and for all. The two put on a four star match that culminates with Taker destroying Edge with tables, ladders, chairs, and a video camera. Taker tombstones Edge and pins him 1,2,3. Taker then drags Edge's carcass to the top of a ladder and chokeslams him off, driving him through the ring and straight into hell.
After building up to this amazing climax for over a year, the feud is then completely and totally over. There's no more rematches, no more trading the belt back and forth, and no questions unanswered. The feud is done. Taker won. Come on, WWE, why have you forgotten how to book this?

Probably HBK/Undertaker, or Angle/HBK. I would say Kurt Angle's last great fued in the WWE was with Shawn Michaels.

In my mind, Punk/Hardy was a feud of a different sort. Both men had never been in such a high position before, being two men who had held a title, but never got to carry a brand. Punk's feuds seem to come second to Cena's, and Jeff was hardly there for most of his first title reign.
What both men showed off was that they were capable of not just making a big case out of a man's personal decisions, but Punk was capable of making a slow heel transition and not just being an out of nowhere decision like the two weeks with New Blood. They showed that two men who had never been closing PPVs could end their matches with some flair. They also showed what it truly means to "cross the line", to be in the shades of grey area: That using substances and being straight edge are different choices different people make. It's only how you truly see the hero and the villain of a story that makes you choose the side.
