According to those close to Mickie James, the multi-time women's champion has begun contemplating leaving World Wrestling Entertainment in order to retire.
As noted earlier, James, who is now 30 years old, has been very frustrated with her standing in the company in recent months. It has also come to light that she has been working with a debilitating arm injury. As a result, James has begun contemplating leaving the industry which she has spent the last ten years in.
James has prepared herself for life after wrestling as she began pursuing a college degree online a few years ago. She has received her Associate of Arts degree in business administration and at last word, is studying for her Bachelor of Arts degree in operations management.
"I felt like I needed to do this, and I wanted something to fall back on. You never know — if I got hurt or something like that — where would I go from there?" James told WWE.com in a 2006 interview. "I set myself up so I'm prepared, no matter what."
By earning her bachelor's degree, James will be able to open and run her own businesses — something she has many ideas about.
"I've always wanted to run my horse farm. So I'd definitely like to have a background to understand that," she said, referring to her lifelong passion for horses."
And, yes, I'm aware wrestling-radio isn't a great news source so take it with a grain of salt.

10 pages in 6 hours Over/Under? 10 pages just for this one quote alone: "I've always wanted to run my horse farm. So I'd definitely like to have a background to understand that," she said, referring to her lifelong passion for horses."

That is definitely good on her for preparing. I wish more wrestlers had that kind of foresight.

Not much to add.

If this expedites the demise of the Divas div., I'm all for it.

Well the last few lines in that article makes me think this won't end well. I saw that too. Although, it probably would have been worse if she suggested possibly running a fast food business that served other kinds of sandwiches other than hamburgers. That would have turned this into a nuclear holocaust.

That would have turned this into a nuclear holocaust. Or perhaps a horse farm combined with a restaurant specializing in down home open faced sandwiches. With a charming girl next door vibe in decor.

Haven't seen anything on a reputable news site that mentions this, so it could still be quite a while until she retires. Then again, she's got good reports for her match on SmackDown this week, so if things continue to go well there, she'll be convinced to stay around a while.

Retirement is a pseudonym for TNA nowadays. It certainly is in WWE land! Concerning how after they left WWE Jeff Hardy and Christian apparently went on a mysterious hiatus from wrestling.
