but seeing as Undertaker is apparently in such bad shape due to injurys and general age at the moment...
And he only seems to appear at ppvs, as on SD! he only appears to cut promos, and only appears in the last 10 minutes of the show...
Why dont they hurry up and groom someone else to take over? or put Kane in his shoes?
Or take Steamboat - who's "still got it", why not utilise him more, someone who appears to quite happily be able to wrestle?
PS. is Ricky still touring with the 'E? or has he gone back to whatever he was doing before WM25? :\
discuss :]

well yeah i get that, but at some point he's gunna be just plain unable to?
why half kill a dude before making any effort to replace him?
if 'Taker disappeared, there would be a void?

Yeah, there would. The man draws, 37-minute entrances and all. It's not a tenable situation in any case since he's no spring chicken and seriously banged up. This is why the company needs to make new stars. But it also needs to pay the bills, and we're in the middle of the worst recession in history.

Taker needs a protoge, someone he can put over like no tomorrow that the fans will actually buy. It needs to be someone who's big, who can be dark and mysterious, and can go in the ring.
I've got no idea who they'd pull for that, though.

I think its dumb as hell that they reject Desmond yet keep Taker, who has an even more snorked up body and runs the risk of injury constantly. Hilarious double standard.

Yeah, there would. The man draws, 37-minute entrances and all. Pretty much describes my feelings on the character too. I haven't really enjoyed the Undertaker character for a long time now, but I won't deny that it's a money-making machine that draws very well for how many years now? Unbelievable.

To be fair, 'Taker's so well known and so over, even with the casual fans, that he can afford to mostly just cut promos, and only wrestle at the PPVs if need be. Nigel/Desmond would effectively be a newcomer in the eyes of the vast majority of the WWE's audience, and there's only so much you can do to build up a guy from scratch when he's already past his physical prime.

So you list one of Taker's problems as "general age" yet want Steamboat to replace him? Thats ridiculous. How does he still have "it" because he's had a few 12 second matches where he can just do his spots.

I hear you, but Steamboat did look a lot better at WrestleMania and Backlash this year, than the Undertaker has looked for the past few months. Steamboat was on fire against Jericho, especially considering how one bad bump could have made him immobile for life.

Taker shouldn't even win a championship. He should have remained as an alternative storyline like he was in 2004-2007.
There's no way to replace Taker in any case.
