A while back I watched the Jacques Rougeau shoot interview. He talks about how him and his brother were disappointed after not getting the tag title run they were promised. At the time, there were so many tag teams waiting in the wings. What happened was at the time, Rougeaus were set to get a run with the belts, but then Vince acquired the Brain Busters and went with them as the top heel tag team.
Then I watched the Brian Blair shoot interview. If you remember correctly, the Killer Bees won the Survivor Series match, so you figured a tag title run in the future was plausible. Again, Killer Bees never got the tag title push, and soon after, both men left the company.
Now, look at all the teams over the past couple of years that the WWE has slapped the tag belts on. Before they did the unification, anybody could have gotten a tag belt. The tag belts for a while were like a runner up trophy in a little league baseball tournament; they were never indicators that a superstar would go on to greatness.
