The Wrestling Observer is reporting that top Ring of Honor talent Bryan Danielson will most lilkely be taking some time off from wrestling when his contract expires with the company in May. Danielson has been training vigorously at Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas, in preparation for a possible future in Mixed Martial Arts. The report also notes that Danielson plans to go to Thailand for 3 months to further his training, which could mean a departure from ROH for at leat that long.

Hopefully, he decides against this. Why would he leave guaranteed money in ROH or anywhere else in wrestling for a shot at MMA?

I'm glad he stayed this long and hope he's happy with what ever he decides to do.

MMA is code for WWE, you just turn the M's upside and pick the next vowel. it's like the IBM-HAL thing from 2001.

Please let this be Danielson training to incorporate more MMA style things into his wrestling.
Please don't let this be Danielson wanting to go all MMA like Kurt Angle wishes to.
Honestly, right now is the time when ROH needs Danielson and McGuinness most, seeing as though Danielson is synonymous with ROH and McGuinness is the second longest reigning champion in ROH history.

I know it sounds weird but, I'd like to see him get away for a bit. He's been going full throttle for awhile now and, would hate to see him get burned out and walk away forever.

Please, don't. Go to WWE if you have to, but don't do MMA.

Hopefully, he decides against this. Why would he leave guaranteed money in ROH or anywhere else in wrestling for a shot at MMA? Same reason he never left for the WWE despite having a lot of big supporters there... He wants to do the things he wants to do. I respect the guy for it.

Meltzer replied to me saying he's not doing MMA. I believe Danielson has stated that he couldn't actually do MMA due to his eye injury slowing down his reaction time. He's only training as a way to better himself. From what Meltzer is saying it sounds like the most significant part of this story is that Danielson's deal is up next month and he still hasn't renewed.

This story makes Danielson sound like Ryu from Street Fighter. I like it.

If he wants to make a career change, now is the time to do it instead of being like Kurt Angle and just talking about it.
Whatever he decides to do, I'm sure he'll be good at it.

I could swear there was a report out there a month or so ago that said he was doing the training, but wasn't actually doing it with the intent to go into MMA.
ROH just keeps getting better....

Unless he wants to be bad at professional wrestling He can just do what Aries did. You know, turn heel and stop being entertaining. Honestly, if Danielson wants to do MMA then good for him. Will I be sad to see him leave Ring of Honor and the world of professional wrestling? Yes. However, I respect him enough as a human being to support whatever venture he decides to do in his life. If he does decide to leave, I'm not going to sit on a message board and complain and list reasons why he shouldn't do it, because who knows? He could get very very very lucky and make it to either UFC or Affliction and have a nice run there. When/if it is announced that Danielson is leaving the sport, I'll be happy for him and will cherish the 7+ years I've spent watching him hone his craft. Hell, I'll follow his entire MMA career by any means necessary.

I don't know about HBK, but I've read that most of 'Taker's training now is based on MMA training, and Kane apparently does quite a bit as well. Neither have any intention of going into MMA. It's kinda like when you train at a boxing gym, but never actually plan on fighting.
