So, it seems ROH lost a lot of money on Flair. Flair does draw big indy crowds, and most shows can use him since they wont have to pay the talent, but ROH doesn't have that. So was Flair the deathnail in the ROH coffin? They've already canceled some upcoming shows with many people saying they couldn't afford the loss on them after dishing all that money out to Flair.

Coffin?
ROH isn't dead, it isn't near death. It's a slow time for all of wrestling.

I can safely say that you have no idea what your talking about and your making assumptions at best that aren't true.

Flair has brought more fans to the show and ROH has sold thousands of autographs, I bet they're breaking even on the autographs alone and I'm sure people that don't purchase many ROH dvd's will purchase the one's that Flair appears on.

HEH?!?!
Montreal was a bad market to begin with and got replaced with another show in Toronto (at a better building, no less).
Danbury was a B show even back in the Gabe era, and their last show sucked and had crap attendance. So it got replaced.
Forgot which other show was dropped (I believe it was Dayton) but I'm pretty sure that was due to lack of attendance at the last couple of shows.
Truth be told, ROH has added and dropped markets before, and will continue to do so as long as they figure that they can make more money elsewhere. Otherwise, they would still be going to San Francisco and North Carolina, for example.
Plus Flair almost singlehandedly boosted St. Louis' attendance figures from 500 on their first run to over 1,000. So any "Flair bankrupting ROH" talk is just rediculous crap.

exactly. The Montreal show reportedly had pretty poor attendance.
Back in 05 and before, ROH could afford to run shows that drew less than 500, but in 09, they can't, especially when they can run markets like NYC and Chicago which consistently draw 800+.

I hate seeing posts like you, sorry sir but you don't have a bloody clue what you are talking about, if you show some proof maybe, but your opinion is silly to say the least.

Being that I simply asked a question doesn't make it me giving my opinion. I don't follow ROH, so I asked a question when I saw on another board that they canceled three shows, and someone brought up that it could be because of the Flair money. Calm down dude, it's not that deep, seriously

Calm down dude, it's not that deep, seriously You said Flair was the deathnail for ROH, yet the company is still running shows, so how could he be the deathnail for the company if the company still exsists? You also said it seems the company lost money on Flair, I was simply asking for proof. They cancelled shows, but just because "many people say" doesn't mean that is proof just speculation by smarks who don't currently like the product. Not mad at you but just back up your statements with some proof would be nice.

The way I look at it. If Flair was a detriment to the company they probably wouldn't be promoting him for future dates.

I doubt Flair would want to even take money from a company if they're hurting. It's not like he NEEDS it.

I doubt Flair would want to even take money from a company if they're hurting. It's not like he NEEDS it. Well, with all the alimony payments from the past wifes and the way Naitch blows through the dough, I'd say he needs it or else he'd be retired fully. I don't think bringing Flair in was the worst move in the past six months, but it was not the best. I just don't think having him show up and go "WOOO! RING OF HONOR BABY!!! WOOO!!! JERRY LYNN ( a talent he held down by the way) DADDY-O!!!! WOOOOOO!!!!!!!" then sign his John Hancock for 20 minutes. That money could be spent on other things, like brining in some more good talent for house shows and TV taping. If Flair has brought so many fans to ROH, then why is 1st row in Philly still available (which is a show he's scheduled to be on)?

Cuz I haven't bought my ticket yet and the rest of Philly's ROH fanbase is waiting for me to do so. No, in all seriousness, the TV tapings were papered last time (something I only found out on day 2 from talking with some production guys) because the first set of TV tapings had sucked so badly. I'd say take away one TV taping and run a regular ROH show, or make the TV tapings better (like the last set were) and the fans will be coming back. Not to mention we're still not anywhere near fully out of the recession.

ROH went to North Carolina? no, i think he meant Maryland. and the reason they dropped Maryland wasn't attendance it was because they were working with the promoter of Maryland Championship Wrestling and he cut off ties with ROH after he found out they were still involved with Rob Feinstein after the Perverted Justice scandal

They were supposed to hold the Shane Shamrock Cup for MCW because MCW went under. Gabe agreed to honor Shane Shamrock (who got gunned down by police). Then the stuff with the commission didn't work out, so they called it off and held the first annual "Survival of the Fittest" instead.

I don't see how canceling shows is a death sign (it's not a good sign either, but still). If anything, they're cutting dead weight. Don't they make the majority of their money off DVD sales anyway?
Most people forget that even with the low attendance, ROH still draws some of the best numbers in whatever markets they run. And the TV tapings in Philly don't draw because it's a silly format. You're practically going to 3 short shows.

I wonder if Flair gave them a discount for giving Reid a job.
