Do you think Marty could have ever been a big superstar in the WWE if it weren't for his habitiual coke problems ?

Habitual coke problems never stopped the Iron Sheik, Jake Roberts, and Roddy Piper from succeeding

Eh, maybe, but probably not. Less catchy name, less good looks and charisma, and seemingly no ability to progress past the Rocker gimmick.
It's like X-Pac after D-X split, minus most of the flashy moves.

If you go back from 93 to 96, you will notice Marty wrestled off and on. Vince keep bringing Marty back after he relapsed several times.

Maybe, but it would be a long shot in my eyes.

Remember, before the bomb of the New Rockers gimmick, Marty was teamed up with Razor Ramon.

He's one of the guys I picture when I think of Mick's words of wisdom from Terry Funk, when discussing people who maybe shouldn't of recieved second changes and the like.
"Mick, sometimes Vince does things just to be nice."

Eh, it may be a bitch to spell, but I always thought "Marty Jannetty" rolled off the tongue quite nicely. Still, while he could certainly give a damn good performance in the ring (as his match with Angle showed), I don't think he was ever all that charismatic. He probably could've had a more successful singles career under different circumstances, but I don't think he could ever have reached Michaels' level.

Jannetty is a good example of the oft-suggested heel turn. I think if you give him a manager to do the talking for him, and he's a solid midcarder.
I was excited when I saw him on a random episode of WCW Saturday Night and thought he could have done well there.
Looking at the roster of managers in WCW during Jannetty's time there, it looks as though he would have ended up in the Dungeon of Doom for some reason, as I see Jimmy Hart as a better fit for him than any of the others. So, scratch that idea.......

Solid worker, terrible on the mic, looked kinda goofy, and issues like crazy.

I look at Marty if he was clean, I don't think he ever become a Main Eventer. Mid carder yes. In the earily 90s he was I-C champion and I could see him being that maybe again if he was still around.
Attitude came around and he would never fit in with his Rocker gimmick. He had all the in ring talent in the world but mic skills nope. In Attitude the best he could be is a jobber or at best European champion. But he be hard to get over with a 80s gimmick in the attitude style IMO.

I always thought he resembled Bret Michaels. They should've dyed his hair blond and gave him a washed-up, drug addict gimmick. In other words, exploit his real life issues on TV.

It's kinda difficult to get over when you're still dressing up like David Lee Roth. And it's 1996.

I think he could have been a solid midcarder, and won or contended for the IC title on several occasions. He wouldn't have gotten into the main event, tho. He was pretty much comparable with HBK as far as ring skills went for a good time after the split, but his mic skills were among the worst I've ever heard.
One idea I had for him would be for him to team up in a stable with Jim Neidhart, Bart Gunn, and maybe a few other "other guys" whose partners hit the big time.

Well, according to Kurt Angle, Marty Jennetty still can't walk. That had to hamper his chances in the WWE.

I don't think so. I think he lacked the charisma to be a big player in WWE. I remember his AWA promos were pretty bad.
